So twin - you got that email too? BUT the right wing Obama defamers are breaking one important little commandment "thou shall not bear false witness" since the National day of prayer was NOT cancelled.

Care to admit your mistake and start a new thread to discuss the facts of what happened?

If not - carry on....

I guess this response could be filed under a knee jerk reaction to the truth that you cannot or will not admit.

Clearly you disapprove of herefornow's post, but you cannot dis-prove it, thus the attack and outrage, right? Be honest now, think before your type, honest answers only

Gullible people who believe in things without proof, are easily swayed into believing anything......

Just because the majority of the members of a poulation share something in common does not mean that the nation as a whole was founded as a "Christian Nation." Would you refer to the United States as a White Nation?

I am not offended because Obama did NOT cancel the day of prayer. A judge in MN canceld it, and Obama specifically said he will not allow it to be canceled. Again, I did not vote for the guy, and nor will I in 2012, but I am saddened by the amount of smear and misinformation the right-wing media spread about him. Mud slinging is not the Christian way. I am also saddened by the Republicans using faith as a political tool. I said I am not voting for Dems, but I should add that I am not voting for the Republicans either, because they are no better than Dems.

IMO Satan spoke through this judge, but as it often happens he overplayed his hand, because the national day of prayer, which often goes unnoticed, was brought to the spotlight by the judge and then by Obama who understood the unpopularity of cancelling such day, made a point of having the prayer day regardless of what the judge had said. So, not only was there a day of prayer, but it got more attention than ever before.

PS. The quote about Obama saying we are not a Christian nation is also false. You need to look at what he really said, and not take things out of context. He said we are not a Christian nation, we are a Christian nation, Jewish nation, Muslim nation, and atheist nation, and his point was obvious: America tolerates all faiths because the constitution guarantees us freedom of religion.

There are still a great number of extremely stupid, that are exclusively christian that will say he is Muslim. Again religious hatred trumps reason, logic, and the facts.

Bud
Thanks for stating what should be obvious. People here are just so desperately trying to change the focus and bring up irrelevant arguments. If they think that there are no Democrat christians, let them.....bringing up race issue, as you said "pointing out is the hypocrisy"

If you are going to hold a birthday party, people show up but the "birthday boy\girl" is a no show..... "cancelled" would probably fall under the acceptable excuse\argument of "depends what is ..is"

  1. "pointing out the hypocrisy"
Exodus 23:24-25 ... "Do not bow down before their gods or follow their practices."

A Christian who believes that christianity is the truth (president or not)
  • would not
    • be found in a Mosque ... anywhere
    • "bow down before their gods" ... notice --God never says the amount of times not to bow, once is enough
    • "follow their practices." ...taking off one's shoes
Though not offically "cancelled" Obama is cited to say that his no-show was due to the overwhelming cries of the people - specifically atheists and “other people” whom had concerns about the day, they would not be having a public observance at the White House.

Twin_spin,

Try using that built in spell-checker - it is very handy. The love is just oozing from you with all your booming out verses from the book of Exodus! With people like you multiplied by the hundreds of thousands, it is no wonder that many people want nothing to do with God. Why would anyone be drawn to a person who is constantly dripping with animosity?
Did you ever read that scripture that says to seek peace and ensue it and to try with all you have to be at peace with ALL men. The problem you have is that you obviously believe that our war IS against other human beings. Nothing could be further from the truth. You are spiritually dead.

Finn-Jarber,
Taken from this search today:
'National Day of Prayer 2010 cancelled' goes viral

the reporter writes (in part):

"The rumor is only partially correct, Obama has canceled the White House service recognizing the National Day of Prayer. He has not, however, cancelled the National Day of Prayer itself."

"Christians must learn that not everyone subscribes to their silly superstition. Their superstition has no business being privileged or even recognized by the federal government."

Ask yourself this ... what if a president didn't honor Martin Luther King Day, would he be applauded by the same crowd here?

This nation was never an athiest nation either.

The difference between the two is obvious.

An athiest nation will take away freedom.

A christian nation as "unofficially" as in not by letter but by spirit: would grant liberty. That is why you will find contrary statements by George Washington, so bear that in mind in his meaning. There is a seperation of church and state, but in spirit, it is a christain nation.

Quotes from American Leaders

Quote:
George Washington</I> -- "Human happiness and moral duty are inseparably connected."

“To the distinguished character of patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.”

"Let it simply be asked where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths, which are the instruments of investigation in the Courts of Justice? And let us with caution indulge the opposition, that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that National morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle."

In 1778 George Washington wrote a letter to Thomas Nelson, Jr. citing God’s divine intervention in the founding of our nation. "The hand of providence has been so conspicuous in all this, that he must be worse than an infidel that lacks faith, and more than wicked, that has not gratitude enough to acknowledge his obligations."

"It is impossible to govern the world without God and the Bible. Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness - these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked, where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are instruments of investigation in courts of justice?"

"And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles." Farewell Address as published in the American Daily Advertiser on September 17, 1796.
Course, atheism is running amok in science, taking away academic freedom in the pursuit of science by risk of consequences for pursuing Intelligent Design theory.

How's that for liberty?

And in the Monkey's Scopes Trail.. the real one.. not the "lying" Hollywood version: where in the real trial, evolution theory was proven false and yet academic freedom allowed it to continue to be pursued in the field of science.

That's christian liberty.

But hey: as the freedoms keep being taken away: will the athiests be scratching their heads when this nation becomes a socialist or a communist nation? Probably not.
