before i "knew" god ..A friend of mine told me .. all he(God) wants from us is to say thank you.
To thank him for the day, thank him for life.
She didnt preach of hell and heaven ,or of all the doctrines of what to do, how to dress etc etc... she simply said that he wanted us to say thank u
I took her advice...and began to simply thank him for everything he has given to me.. this was the start for me...and now i am building a beautiful relationship with him that has changed and continues to change me.
learning to give thanks for The 'good' the 'bad' and all things in between and trusting that god knows what he is doing our lives has given me great peace.

And thank you, drose1, for a good post. And I'm glad you included the mention of "god"...many people, TOO many people seem to think that "god" wants people to be religious, or saved or whatever, which means you have to have a miserable life, with no fun, no humor and live in fear all the time with a peculiar set of strict rules to live by. Which should certainly not be the case if one truly understands the nature of god. But you got it right.
No doubt there may be certain people who may come along and rain on your parade, with what is "right" and "moral" and so forth...don't let them. You've got the right idea, and so long as you are living life to your fullest potential, being kind and thoughtful outside of yourself, as well as TO yourself and likewise towards others, then you are living as god would have you. So live, drink, eat and be merry! Or whatever suits your fancy so long as it doesn't interfere with your own well being, or anyone else's. Life is for living, lest we forget that...
