The Bible and Christian Books
I thought it would interesting to start this thread about three things.
1. Where are you at in your Bible reading?
2. What Christian book are you reading now?
3. What Christian book would you highly recommend?

1. Where are you at in your Bible reading?
I'm in Job Chapter 1. I also jump around the New Testament all the time. I try to read through the Bible every year, and have done so since 1991.
2. What Christian book are you reading now?
I just finished "The American Prophecies" by Michael D. Evans.
3. What Christian book would you highly recommend?
"The School of Christ" by T. Austin Sparks.

Great thread, Marks. Awesome idea.
1.In my regular reading, right now I am in Isaiah. I've been down in my regular time there though with all the study/preparation for my youth and my Sunday School class. In my SS responsibilities, we've been teaching on the minor prophets and I just finished with Zephaniah.
2.The book I'm reading right now is "I Don't Have Enough Faith To Be An Atheist" by Norm Geisler and Frank Turek. Really Good.
3. One book that I think should be required reading for all Christians is called "Stomping Out The Darkness" by Neil Anderson. I've taken our youth through it and one other, but I think I got as much from it as they did. Awesome and a very easy read.

Bible reading and books
This is an interesting thread, Marks
1) I'm embarrassed! Not reading anything right now in any kind of systematic way, and I usually don't. That's probably bad because if you don't you tend to just read the passages you like. For example, I usually read Isaiah and the Psalms because I like to. Really the only time I can recall doing systematic reading was many years ago I decided to read the Bible completely through. So I just started at Genesis and went through it. It took me about 6 months.
2) Been dabbling at reading Case for a Creator by Lee Stroebel. Saw the book Alpha mentioned the last time I was at the Christian bookstore, I don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist. I would have purchased it then but I was already in line to check out when I spotted it. Will probably read that next. Can't imagine why I'm "into" apologetics right now!

3) Recommended book-oh, wow! That is very hard to narrow down to one.
I would recommend different ones to different groups of people.
One I recommend ad nauseaum it seems like on this forum to people who are struggling with theological "why" issues is James Dobson's When God Doesn't Make Sense.
One I recommend to people who have questions about whether the gifts of the Holy Spirit are available today is Surprised by the Spirit by Dr. Jack Deere. Surprised by the Voice of God by Jack Deere is also good. Actually, I just like Jack Deere period.
One I would recommend to agnostics and people who are seeking is my favorite apologetic book by Dr. Greg Boyd, Letters from a Skeptic.
And finally, one I would recommend to jeffandcandace is 1001
Reasons Why Universalism Can't be True by kaykay.
Actually, just threw that last one in to see if you guys are paying attention!
I guess I could write it.....

I LOVE LOVE LOVE a book by Elisabeth Elliot called Keep a Quiet Heart. I have had it since I was in college and love to look back at it from time to time. It is short stories, that are very relevant to today. She has an amazing way to look at how you handle a situation and give Glory to God. It inspires me!

1. I tend to take a different approach to reading the Bible. I am usually not concerned with reading a book through in its entirety unless I feel inspired to. I have read Genesis through Leviticus, Job, Book of Songs, the 4 Gospels, Colossians, Romans, and most of Thesselonians. Instead of focusing on reading a particular book, I like to use the concordanance and read sections from various books throughout the Bible which deal with what is happening in my life or the life of my friends and family. For me, I get much more value this way and sometimes read things I don't necessarily like.
Since we are in session for junior high small groups, I am currently reading How to talk to kids about Sex and for my own personal interest I am reading Jerusalem Countdown.
If I could recommend only one book to Chrstians, it would be The Barbarian Way by Erwin McManus.

Ha! You are too much kay.
Like you, I don't have anything systematic right now. I tend to read alot of the NT, and again like you, I love the Psalms, and Isaiah. Funny how we read the same thing and get 2 different meanings, huh?
I just read The Early Church at my parent's but can't remember who wrote it.
My recommendation to everyone (this will come as no shock) is Read and Search God's Plan...of His Mercy Upon All! by Harold Lovelace.

Geesh, you mean you people actually have time to read books? I'm lucky I get to come on here and visit with you all! Maybe someday, I will be blessed with more time and less obstacles to where I can read more books
I have made note of most of the reading you have all posted...I think I will try to start with Alpha's "Stomping Out the Darkness".
