It's a popular feel-good catch-phrase, but I don't see how any human being should have the audacity to determine and say what God thinks or "hates". Just my 2 cents.

Well, as long as you use Scripture to defend your position, and not state what one thinks, then I think that the Word of God alone is the only source that should shape our thinking so that we can be of the same mind set as God. God hates divorce Malachi 2:16. Can we say that God hates divorce and back it up with Scripture?.

LOL, I suppose WE can say whatever we want and interpret Scripture however we want, but in the end if there's no love, it's all empty rhetoric.

I'm divorced, by the way. I'm not too sure God loved my MARRIAGE! But that's a whole nother story.

God loves everyone and hates no one. He is saddened by sin because it harms those He loves . . . sinners or not.

I think this quote does contain some Biblical truth (Jn 3:16 and 1 Jn 4:19), but I think this quote also put on a false impression about God. His love is great that we can't comprehend, but God is a Holy God and we should not exempt that from his attributes. God will deal justly with us in His time, and his holiness demans dealth penalty for all who sins against him. I do believe that God hates sinner, perhaps, the unredeemed sinner? Or maybe all of us?

I think that Jesus' life is our example of how we should treat each other. Who hasn't fail? When Jesus told the woman to "go and sin no more" (Jn 8:11), it is an example of "love the sinner but hate the sin", but I cannot or, perhaps, am having a hard time accepting this slogan as it is. Could it be that this slogan is unbiblical? Half truth? But it doesn't make it the whole truth. What if this slogan means that God loves the [redeemed] sinner but hates the sin? God does hate the [unredeemed] sinner, but people like to play it safe, claiming that God does love the [unredeemed] sinner? How can God loves the unredeemed sinner then when his wrath is on the unrighteousness?

Man...this is a tough one.

If everyone on this thread agrees God loves sinners, then why do half the people on this this thread still believe God allows people to go into eternal torment?

If you love someone, you never give up on them, and you don't stand by while they are tormented forever.

Or are you saying God loves sinners up until the point they die, then He hates them?
