I'm the "God, what are You Doing???!!" stream right now ('cause I wonder why in the world are things all stupid in my life right now, and after all that praying, too). Dang ...
Really, I'd be agnostic if I didn't have years of parental upbringing and Bible study ingrained in me. Couldn't get rid of all that if I tried.
Guess that's a good thing, huh?
I get the sense I didn't do much better than "Are you Catholic or Christian?" guy. I mean I knew so many of you are basically your own thing, but I guess I wasn't thinking "Other" would be quite this much of a majority.
There are really only two significant "rivers" of life: Christian or Non-Christian! There are a number of "denominational and religious streams" branching out of those two "rivers," but they are certainly not equally interchangeable (as suggested by an all inclusive 'shopping list.')
Am I missing something? -- Is the question, "Where do you attend church?" or "Are you a Christian?" or perhaps, "Are you a Christian?' AND 'Where do you attend church?".
Unless one is a "Christian", it makes no more difference where they attend church, than where they shop for groceries. If one is not a Christian, than pointless questions suggesting that 'church attendance' is synonymous with 'Christianity' only mislead and confuse people.
Episcopalian--switched in my 30's from the Reformed Church (American version of the old Dutch Reformed Church--similar to Presbyterian but more hell-and-death centered.)

That's not necessarily true. Different Christians have different traditions and different schools of thought. None of us know the "right" version--we can't possibly. It's interesting and expands one's knowledge base to learn about others and share information.
