The purpose of this post is to simply direct the readers attention to a well written paper by Alan W. Gomes, Assistant Professor of Historical Theology at Talbot School of Theology, La Mirada, California. He received his Ph.D in historical theology from Fuller Theological Seminary.
In this paper, Dr. Gomes refutes the teaching of Annihilationism. In presenting the orthodox position that those who do not accept God's offer of salvation in Christ will suffer conscious, everlasting torment, Universalism is also refuted. But the focus is on Annihilationism.
I hope that the reader will carefully read the paper, which is in two parts, completely and carefully. Without further comment, here is Dr. Gomes paper.

So he believe that the reward of sin is eternal life and immortality such that afterwards one can be tormented for the rest of eternity? If so, he is mistaken, the bible says that immortality is a gift for the righteous not the wicked. Also that eternal life is not a reward for sinning.

You did not have time to read the paper in its entirety. And certainly not carefully.
Both the believer and unbeliever will be resurrected. The believer to eternal life, and the unbeliever to disgrace and everlasting contempt (Daniel 12:2).

What does it matter. You still believe that eternal life and immortality is a reward for sinning.
It is our consciousness that is eternal and it is our consciousness that will experience the next life after our death and rebirth as Spirit. But any torment will be self-imposed once the truth about reality and our life is revealed to us in its entirety. Every single moment of our entire life will be revealed in all its glory or infamy. What we have repented will be covered by the grace of Jesus. What we have not will need to be dealt with . . . probably by experiencing all the negative consequences we inflicted on others. The quantity and quality will differ for each of us (reap what we sowed). But our consciousnesses will be "cleansed" and "refined" and "repaired." God does not destroy His creations . . . He repairs and saves them . . "as if by fire."
Eternal life is given to those who receive Christ as Savior. Eternal condemnation belongs to those who die having rejected Christ as Savior.
Acts 16:31 'Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.'
John 3:36 ''He who believes in the Son has eternal life, but he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.''
Now. I am not going to waste my time going back and forth in useless debate. The paper is presented for those who have an interest in reading it.
so are the people in hell going to be alive or not?
