And those that are supposed to be teaching "truth" are part of the problem. They teach that we are vile, disgusting, worthless sinners who should be groveling face down, asking God to please don't torture us forever, even though we DESERVE it!!!

All because what? Because we were BORN??

HE subjected US.
We didn't subject HIM
HE, GOD subjected US.

HE is responsible for His creation.
And He will not let any of us down.

All that feeling is, is FEAR.
STARVE it.

Perfect love casts out all fear.
He knows the number of hairs on your head.
Not so he knows how many he has to pluck out one by one to torture you, but because He loves you and He is trying to tell you how intimately He knows you. He knows you better than you KNOW YOURSELF. Do YOU personally know how many hairs you have on your head??
I sure don't.

Take that passion and turn it inwards towards that feeling you have hidden down deep. Take that beautiful passion of yours and you STOMP OUT THAT FEELING. Because you KNOW, DEEPER down that it's not true.
Listen to His voice.
Take all of those other voices (confused man blathering on about nonsense that got ingrained in you) and kick them to the curb.
Listen to the voice that BRINGS HEALING. It's there.
It's deeper down than those other voices. It is THERE.
Those other stupid voices are in the way.
Kick them out.

To think of you having that feeling within you... wow. It blows my mind because you are such a strong fighter for love. And to see your passion despite the struggle within yourself to FEEL that love for YOURSELF. That is just something. Talk about inspirational. Herefornow... I hope this feeling is destroyed really soon for you. You so deserve to KNOW that you are loved.
What an awesome, awesome post Sparrow!! I think all of us who have come out of seriously damaging beliefs still have a lot of residual fear and self-loathing to some degree. And I love what you said.....STARVE that fear!!!

Herefornow, you ARE loved by many right here on this board even though we've never met. Isn't that wonderful and powerful?? God bless you both, and you too ditchlights.

Sparrow, you have such a way with words! Thank you for encouraging herefornow it that way.

Herefornow, when I read your post I thought, "What? Herefornow? How could you feel you deserve to be punished forever? You're so full of faith, and strong and smart and funny and nice!" I hope you'll take to heart what sparrow said and kick those feelings to the curb! I loved the video you posted a while back about Love Has the Final Move. That really made an impression on me, and I think of it from time and time and think about your Mother, and how even I wish she could have realized the true depth of love. Now, you need to go back and listen to that song again and let it penetrate your soul! Love 'ya!

Watch this video. I think the last verse may apply to you:

Baby, don't listen to what they say.
There comes a time you just have to break away.
Baby, there are things that we will cling to all our life.
It's time to let them go and become my wife.

The song is 'Misguided Angel'. If you were a guy, you would notice that Margo Timmins who sings this song is about the sexiest woman in the world.

I believe the Spirit of Christ no more resides in the church as we know it today, than it did in the church of his day.

Fear is a very powerful thing and is nearly impossible to overcome. I know you're struggling to believe UR ditchlights but look into it and study it some more....it will slowly win out over the horrific teachings of hell or even annihilation.
Thank you for the kind words Ilene. It was tough growing up. I was an only child, and my folks were considerably older than the other parents as well. That mixed with their closedmindedness made everything that much less pleasant. Some of my friends have commented in the past that they find it amazing that I turned out as normal as I did, taking my childhood into consideration. I love my folks, but talking religion with them is like talking to a brick wall.

I appreciate ALL the feedback I'm receiving. Thank's all!

I have said the sinners prayer so many times to accept him into my heart in the hopes for a transformation, yet I lack the power to change by myself. I was raised in an ET church, and am scared to death of going to hell, but I don't know what to do. The way of the world is so powerful. I don't see myself as a bad person, yet I feel I am worthy of hell for eternity.
This is how I see it: There are plenty of people out there who have no religion and don't even really struggle with any of these things, and that's fine, but for those of us who believe in Christ and believe he bore our burdens and our humanity on his shoulders, all we have to do is start resting. Enter into his rest. He knows we are all screwed up. The true peace starts to enter us when we realize how much he loves and how much he wants us to grow, flourish, and enter into that realm of peace. And he knows how to get us there. I don't think fighting porn and drugs and whatever on our own is going to do us any darn good. When we start to understand who our Creator is, what kind of life is available to us, and how much he loves us those things we were fighting (in the flesh) start to look ugly, broken, and dark. That's when we start walking (or running, depending on the case) toward the light.

When our focus is on our hero, we just don't want this world anymore. It starts to stink to high heaven.

(my struggles are with anger and fear, which kills the Spirit of love, joy and peace. Of course. But, sometimes, it just starts nagging at me and I give in. We are all still in fallen bodies. But, if you realize what damage you're doing to yourself, even when indulging in the smallest of negative things, I think it's a good first step )

Great post, Ilene. Fear is a horrible thing. Fear does not drive us to love. It does the opposite. Religion has done a number on people. It's just so sad.

Thank you, BHFT. I've never met any of you out there, but I feel like you guys know me better than anybody who has ever known me in person. It's a good feeling.

"Love Has the Final Move" is a beautiful song, but I can't listen to it anymore. I'm struggling with my mom's death, and I want so much to believe that everything is going to be okay, but I'm not quite there, yet.

Thank you so much for thinking about my mom.

Hiker, I'm glad you're hanging out with us over here. That was a beautiful song.
