This is interesting, I did not know a preoccupation with the problem of evil was Gnostic, it seems a lot of Christians are Gnostic nowadays.

"Gnosticism is not a specific heretical movement in church history, but rather a broad umbrella term categorizing a loose collection of false beliefs.
Questions concerning the origins of Gnosticism are still unsolved. Some think Gnosticism originated as a heresy that diverted from orthodox Christian teaching, while others see the movement as an independent, non-Christian movement stemming from paganism."

Everett Ferguson breaks down the diverse teachings of Gnosticism into eight categories:
 •
A preoccupation with the problem of evil
A sense of alienation from the world
A desire for special and intimate knowledge of the secrets of the universe
A psychological (body and soul) and ethical (good and evil) dualism
A cosmology wherein all beings are derivative from the first, originating principle
A hierarchical anthropology of different classes of human beings with fixed destinies
A radically realized eschatology that denied the resurrection of the dead
 • A variety of ethical implications ranging from libertinism and asceticism
The Gnostic teaching on salvation was not based on Christ. Instead, “The content of the Gnostic gospel was an attempt to rouse the soul from its sleep-walking condition and to make it aware of the high destiny to which it is called.”

gnosis spirit is a spirit that is based on a proud better knowledge than the truth of Jesus brought, and this spirit can bring visions that can be very deceptive if people get stuck believing these spirit ideas ....... the way to discern the deception is is people get very mad if questioned on their belief than the fruit of the spirit is lacking , ... these are the way to know that deception is there ..... Jesus can help these people and redeem them if they are willing to forsake the key salvation errors and turn to Christ Jesus will reap were he did not sow, because these deceptive gnosis spirit did all the sowing ...... I have heared of preachers calling gnosis a ``good know sis`` or better understanding the Jesus truths.......... The preoccupation with the evil is to know the ways of the devil so we can stay into the truth of the Lord and not follow the evils spirits like very many people in the world ..... discrernment of spirits is a gift of Holy Spirit and a blessing of Lord Jesus Christ to stay in to truth and help other find the right spirit for their salvation

Eph 5:14 For this reason it says, "Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you."

Paul also referred to an elite predestined class of people throughout Ephesians... and sought to make them aware of that high destiny.
