I thought we weren't supposed to bash others... I mean really, why? What's the point? All it does is make you look bad.

This is not bashing. The purpose of this thread is to provide information based on fact and opinion. It is of supreme importance that your Church be built on Truth or it is built on sand. There are people who come to this forum looking for Truth and get as many opinions of what Truth is. All the opinions presented cannot all be correct. If you read the link above, and find something in it which is false, then present your ideas why you think it to be false. However silence will confirm it's truth. Isn't that what a forum is about. Every ONCE in a while, a person actually concedes. It has happened once for me in 3 or so years on the board.

Discussing opinions on truth? If everyone has to worry about offending someone's sensibilities everytime a person says something on a Christian forum, no one would ever say ANYTHING. It's the nature of the beast. It requires a little courage and a lot of thick skin. It is the folks that defend everything, that really defend nothing.

Odd question. I would assume that if the Catholic church thought the Book of Mormon was a legitimate source, they would no longer be considered Catholic.

I was raised in a different faith and attended religious schools. We talked about several religions, one of them being Mormonism. Our teacher had a book of Mormon. The church I was raised in felt that the Book of Mormon was written by Joseph Smith but that it was not anything to be given any weight, not written by a prophet. Their test for such things was said to be, is this work consistent with the bible. According to them, it is not.

Personally, I believe you have the right to worship how you see fit, you choosing a different path then I do does not mean that you or anyone else deserves to be disrespected. I leave it at that.

All true. However, there is a fine line between disrespect and exposing Christian falsehoods. I guess I could preface everything I say with, "With all due respect", but that just gets tedious.

My approach is colored by what I observed in the church I was raised in. I didn't feel like there was any respect for people of other religions, the attitude that they knew it all and everyone else was so LOST really got too me. I don't treat people like that.

Bashing of any type is not allowed according to the TOS. That would include religion..
