You keep trying to change the subject. I'm talking about adults who make the decision to become a Christian. Yes, child-like faith is necessary, but even a child will not believe their parents love them if they do not see that love in action.
Please refer to your first comment about a child requiring some evidence, which I addressed, then tell me how that is changing the subject.

You're talking about religious training of a child. I'm not. What I'm saying is, even a child won't believe in Santa if there are no presents under the tree. Likewise, if an adult Christian is not seeing some evidence of God in their life, they won't continue to believe.

But if you constantly threaten the child with "Santa will punish you if you don't behave", that child will grow to believe in, and believe that Santa must be feared. Be it something positive like "presents" or negative like "behave or santa will get you"doesn't matter, it is the repetition of the fantasy from someone the child trusts that makes it real to the child.

Do you believe that can happen to a well-educated adult?
The Mystery of Death
One thing that mankind dreads is death. We are told that our first parents Adam sinned and that sin led the way to death. Death has been prayed against but it is clear that no matter the intensity of the prayer, God still uses death as a tool in this earth plane. But does death really exist? When we loose our loved ones is that really it?
It is an established fact that man is made in the image and likeness of God. We are made of Spirit, water and blood. Our Spirit is actually the image of God residing in us. When someone dies, the spirit leaves the house and the blood and water dry up in the grave. As God does not die, our spirit cannot die. Even in Hell, the spirit cannot be killed but can only be under eternal torment. The rich man and Lazarus illustrates this. The rich man's spirit was under intense heat that he needed to cool his tongue (Luke:16), but at no time did he die.
God has angels of death, who operate the system to exacting accuracy.
Revelation 6:8 And I looked and behold a pale horse; and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
When it is time for someone to die, the angels of death surround the person to welcome him to the spirit world. Understand it like you travel from New Orleans to New York, and your welcome party are all happily waiting at the airport to pick you up. The earth plane is the smallest of all planes created by God and the least enjoyable--- well, apart from hell. Most dead souls are happy a swell time in their new environment.
There is a joy in the spirit world when a spirit is welcomed, just like there is joy in the world when a human being is born. The womb of a woman is therefore, the only channel for spirits to pass through and live in the world (different from short term manifestation). When a woman conceives, she starts wanting to eat various things she did not eat before, because a new spirit inside her is asking for these new things. When it is time for delivery, the spirit , now fully imprisoned in the inhabited house lets out a cry- compare that to the cry we cry when someone departs the world. The spirits cry for departing the spirit world to the earth plane with all the hardship.
Until the angels of death are destroyed, people will not really know who they were in their previous incarnations. John the baptist did not realize he was Elijah in his past incarnation, but Jesus being God knew him and told the people that Elijah had come. The spirit carries all the work of the previous incarnation, so if you commit sin, you come back to pay for those sins in another incarnation. Sometimes we wonder why God allowed this 'nice person' to die such a 'shameful death' and we get all emotional and upset with God. We have not known the full story, we only know in part. If we knew the full story, we would be grateful to God for carrying out his work.
Revelation 20: 13-14 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works; And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
It is the job of these angels to detain spirits in different planes of manifest. Some are detained in the sea, forest, hell, etc. These angels prevent the living from knowing the returnees or which plane they came from.
Its getting rather long, let me pause but the conclusion is that it is wrong to say someone has died, but we should say the person has translated or has gone on a new assignment. It is a sign of ementary teachings of Christ for us to keep mourning houses.
I don't believe in reincarnation, I think that's just purely a man-made belief and the scriptures have already been quoted that prove that a person is sentenced to die ONCE, and THEN the judgment. You're talking about something that has no basis, scripturally or otherwise.
Death is not a mystery to a true -believer in the Lord as he or she knows his destiny as it is only death from this world but a new phase of life with eternity with our Father in Heaven.
As far as reincarnation read Hebrew 9:27
