The Bible says that Jesus is the only way, but there are many who try to find an alternate route to heaven. If Jesus is the only way, then any other way will lead to destruction. Those who reject Christ are already on the broad way to destruction, and many of them are not even looking, but those who try, and can't find, are the ones who seek alternate ways like false religions, being a 'nice' person, everyone is saved etc.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven.
Revelation 3:14-22 (King James Version)

14And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
15I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
19As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
20Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

I think this is a very powerful statement. Some will say the Laodiceans are the apostate church - those that go to church for more of a social meeting as oppose to worshiping God. There is also a chuch of the time, but I'm in the belief that this has more than one meaning. Of course this is someone's interprettation, but one I've accepted thus far. So what is "Faith?" Is it a belief that Jesus was the Son of God and messiah? Or is it living your life the way we were told to - obeying God's words and professing Jesus Christ as the messiah until the end?

Jesus makes it clear in the parable of the virgins. 5 had enough oil (from my research, possessing the holy spirit), and 5 did not have enough oil. The ones that did not have enough oil were told to go get more. When they did and got back, the doors were shut. Jesus told them he didn't know them. He also said there would be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Now if this isn't a sober reminder of where our hearts need to be I don't know what is. It basically says he has to know you. You have to answer the door that he's knocking at. This means go searching for the door and open it. From what I grasp, he's outside the apostate institutional "church!"

You have to seek the door out. In finding the door and opening it, he will grant you and I the holy spirit. Just what I've grasped from my studies.

If they were saved, they would be in the house eating supper as opposed pounding on the door outside in the afterlife.

So does belief in Jesus place one on the narrow path?

Amen..... and I believe there are a few here that the Holy Spirit has revealed to them also the very things He has shown you and have grasped this truth also !!
Blessings

I love the picture that shows Jesus standing at the door knocking and if one looks down there is no door knob on the outside of the door, one needs to believe and agree with God and open the door in order for Christ to come in to sup with them and they with Him !!

It takes way more than belief, as the devils believe and tremble. It takes a born again experience. People often cite the thief on the cross to point to the ease of entrance into heaven. However, he was being put to death, so he had no opportunity to bring forth fruit worthy of repentance; but, Jesus knew the man's heart-felt godly sorrow, so he was given his passport into heaven. I am quite sure that had he lived, he would have used his godly sorrow to bring forth fruit worthy of his repentance.

When you listen to most christians you would believe he's outside of them too. In general they never speak of Christ and his kingdom within us,but one who is in the sky.

My point Cyber is if we do not know Christ is in us by faith and experience we are no different to those who you say Christ is outside of them. It's funny that you think that i know like Solomon what's in someone's heart, yet you Fundy's know all those who have Christ outside of them lol.
