If he had burnt down a few cities with fire and brimstone on the ones that rejected him , caused the ground to open on those who questioned his authority,called down fire from heaven on the false prophets and maybe instead of sitting down on a mountain speaking of the love God, he instead ascended onto it in fire, while smoke was billowing out of it that the mountain trembled ?.
Have you ever stopped and asked yourself why Jesus who IS the express image of who God IS .Heb 1:3, lived a life the exact opposite to the above ?.
Don't you think if he was the express image he would be taking out a few cities with fire and brimstone,calling down fire on the false prophets, and just like the mount of Sinai he would be totally and absolutely unapproachable by the average punter ?.
Or do you just prefer to ignore this and sweep it under the carpet ?.
I don't think the point was to PROVE He was God. God could reveal Himself in any manner at any time. The point was to have FAITH by searching your own heart and finding Him. Any one can believe what they can see, God wants people to believe what they feel and to forge out a relationship.

The point was, He was God manifested in the Flesh. If you have seen me you have seen the Father (God).He wasn't trying to prove anything .....He IS I AM.
For Jesus to been more easily accepted by his own people, Jesus would have to become a pharisee and live a religious life under the authority of the sanhedrin and obeyed their way of thinking and then no saviour would have come from Jesus ........ If Jesus would have brought fire down from Heaven the chief priest sanhedrin would have persecuted him the same , ...Elijah the prophet who brought fire down from Heaven was persecuted by Queen Jezebel persecuted Elijah the prophet and Elijah left Israel and ran away a hid because Jezebel wanted to kill Elijah......... See Jesus came to the Earth at a least favorable time . during apostasy of heart and faith to the Lord God , just as he will come at His second-coming , during apostasy, when religion is strong and the faith in God is weak , but there will be a remnant people here for the Lord `s purposes..... See the Lord God prophesied faith into the salvation of the people of the Jews for His son, because the religious spirit was a real threat and changing people ideas would have been a hard challenge because faith in a must to receive from God....... The religious spirit of this earth is a spiritual white serpent devil who is white and pure on the outside and evil and dark heart on the inside and rules over strife and contention in the spirit over people who will obey it authority,....... Jesus talks about this authority in Matthew 15: 17-20......``Do not you understand that what so ever enters in at the mouth goes into the belly, and is cast out to the draught?,,,....but those things proceed out of the mouth come from the heart and defile the man ...; like evil thought murders adulteries fornication, thefts, false witness, blasphemies defile the man .....``......... See the religious spirit is the obstacle to his people accepting Jesus

I think that would have made Him a very bad parent to His children.

I don't know about that.They were expecting a Messiah to free them from their enemies, wouldn't burning up the Roman Empire impressed them ? Are not all the things i mentioned in my post what the modern day member of the religious establishment is expecting ? earthquakes, floods,famines, not to mention all the stuff in Revelation.
Elijah only did little stuff compared to Jehovah.
So why did the same God that was in Christ refrain from all that death and destruction,come to earth and say that i have come that you might have life and have life more abundantly in the here and now, and that it is the devil that comes to steal, kill and destroy ?.
Why do you think Jesus said if you have seen me you have seen the Father(God) ?.
Why did he say love your enemies ?
Why did he say be good to those who spitefully use you ?
Why did he say be merciful even to the ungrateful and evil ?
The answer is that is we will be children of the Most High,in otherwords we will be like him. Luke 6:35.

Jesus showed the people exactly who God is by acting like God. He showed the people that God is not the God that is portrayed in the OT but a God of Love and mercy. Jesus became like God because He knew God and remembered Him from before He came into this world, just as all of us could have done. The only difference between Jesus and us is that Jesus loved God more than He loved this material life so that was the kind of life He led.
Too many people let religion lead their life instead of God. We end up hating each other for it.
