If everyone makes it,,,it is Universalism. Sorry, but no matter how sugar coated it is, it STILL is. Doesn't matter what the belief is, how how the belief is perceived. If ALL men make it, it IS Universalism.

So yes, Rob Bell DOES promote it.

In the video the man is explaining universalism but not the mainstream view of universalism. So it may be misleading to some. The guys is actually promoting Robert Bells view of universalism - Not the mainstream view of universalism.

trettep i know that. I actually believe he's explaining "Love Wins" and universalism happens to be part of the whole grand scheme of things, thus the title of the video.

This says everything about christendom to me

Rob Bell is not a Universalist

He’s a pastor of a church that preaches the Bible, follows Christ’s teachings, and seeks to honor God. The fact that this well-written and compelling book caused the level of outrage and horror that it did, before it was even read, says more about our Christian culture than it does the man who wrote the book. If Christians are so scared of anything that questions the status quo, that they can’t even wait to see what one of their brothers say before they condemn him, what kind of witness does that present to the world? What kind of God does that portray?

Rob Bell may not call himself Universalism, .. but in his book `Love Wins` says in Chapters ``Does God Get What Gos Wants? and There are Rocks Everywhere``... Bell talks about restoration and reconciliation ...... he says ``Love demands freedom. It always has and it always will. We are free to resist, reject, and rebel against God`s way for us We can have all the hell we want``...In the city of Heaven has gates for keeping people in and for keeping people out If the gates are never shut then people are free to come and go ... Will everyone eventually be reconciled to God or will there be theses who cling to their version of their story, insisting on their right to be their own God ruling their own little miserable kingdom`.................Rob Bell believes in Judgment of man even though he question the purpose of , mostly because that sin is so watered down by liberal spirit that gets away with murder and does and people can get complacent with the Judgment that God character which is not evil and can not abide in the presence of darkness and darkness will never be in Heaven because of the purity of this supernatural place where people who go there with the righteousness of Jesus Christ because the righteousness of man will never be sufficient to go there.......

That was a nice video pcamps.

One of the points he was making is that many people have a certain picture of what "universalism" is, and reject it or any belief that seems to be "universalism" because the label has been prejudiced/smeared.

For example some people think 'universalism' means "any path gets you to heaven".

However those who believe the victorious gospel of UR are not advocating an "any path/anything goes" philosophy. They are simply saying that Christ is 100% successful in doing what He came to do.

I have about 20 pages left to go - I read it in bits and pieces in bed before I drift off to sleep...

Anyway its a good read. He asks a lot of pertinent questions, questions similar that you and I have asked on this forum before. Here's a few select quotes:

--
'Her daughter was asked by a Christian if the young man who had died was a Christian. She said that he told people he was an atheist. This person then said to her, "So there's no hope then."

No hope? Is that the Christian message?
"No hope"?
Is that what Jesus offers the world?'
--
'What if the missionary gets a flat tire?

This raises another, far more disturbing question:
Is your future in someone else's hands?

Which raises another question:
Is someone else's eternity resting in your hands?'
--
'Let's be very clear, then: we do not need to be rescued from God. God is the one who rescues us from death, sin, and destruction. God is the rescuer.'
--

Rob talks about a lot of other things. About how Christianity seems to be focused on 'getting out of here' to go 'some place else' instead of trying to make the Kingdom here. About what our picture of Jesus is. Which picture of Jesus do we believe in.

The book is definitely worth the read.
