That's your interpretation of it Finn. The Lake of Fire is totally symbolic.

Isn't it enough to know that it's just going to be?

Worship of a torturing God requires a whole new perspective on morality that just doesn't jive with true justice as described in ethics.
BTW
There was this Pentecostal woman who preached to us and who kept saying that if no one burned then what was the use of being a Christian. In other words she was behaving herself out of morbit for the sadistic God she claimed to love.

No, that is my interpretation of it. I can't reject something that doesn't exist. Moderator cut: orphaned L. Ray Smith is a true man of God and he is in need of serious prayer for his cancer.

BTW
My question on the lake of fire was rhetorical and aimed at those who believe the lake to be literal. Thought that would be obvious.

You can't provoke thought when there is no desire to think... No one wants to think about hell.

Certain fundamentalist sects think and speak about it all the time. We were threatened with hellfire every week by one of these persons. Her main theme was how it would feel to burn forever without any hope of mercy.

Yet, they never find themselves in a position to actually THINK about what it would be like if the tables were turned. If they really thought about hell, they'd see it isn't an inferno without mercy....
Instead they preach about what OTHERS do wrong and how OTHERS deserve hell... Ironically, belief in whatever they are preaching is the only thing, in their mind, that prevents them from going to hell... It's certainly not because they behave better than hell-bound individuals, is it?
They think they hold a get-out-of-hell-free card.... Unfortunately, this isn't Monopoly and preaching fear isn't helping anyone.
