abortion, gay marriage, shacking up, sex outside of marriage, having babies out of wedlock, and just partying and getting drunk as if we are part of this world.
Political views are a whole another issue. But as a former Democrat, I left the party when God revealed to me how that party seems to support people who want to live footloose and fancy free lives. I didn't become a Republican because Republicans seem to lack the compassion and empathy for our fellow citizens. I vote as a conservative Independent, if that's such a label to describe my political views. Any thoughts on this topic?

No because 1) Abortion is not a serious offense in the Bible. Judaism doesn't view a baby as a full human, and the only verse in the entire Bible that makes reference to a forced miscarriage makes that apparent.

2) Same-sex marriage is not forbidden in the Bible. There are only 5 verses in the entire Bible that even discuss same-sex behavior, and every single one refers to pagan prostitution and worship practices prevalent in pagan cultures. It's about as applicable to modern day society as the prohibition on wearing mixed fabrics.

3) Sex outside of marriage may be mentioned, although the original meaning of porneia is not entirely clear.

4) Getting wildly drunk isn't a good thing, but drinking isn't a sin.

Conservatives very often don't understand the Bible despite claiming they do, so why would we all want to be conservative? Jesus' views were closer to liberals (although not entirely the same). The Pharisees were the conservatives of Jesus' day.

There are behaviors that I choose not to engage in because my insticts or experiences tell me they aren't going to impact my life, or the lives of those around me, in a positive way. But if being "conservative" means attempting to force other people to make the same choices I do, then no, that's not my place.

As far as abortion, however, I AM conservative. In my opinion, that's not just about a woman's choice ... it's about providing protection and a voice to powerless children who have no voice and no way of protecting themselves. But I also don't believe that laws are going to truly protect unborn babies, any more than laws against child abuse have stopped children from being abused.

Laws aren't the real answer, although they can play a role in curbing the behavior to some extent perhaps. I wish ALL of us would put more effort into doing things that would provide parents with help and support that would prevent the problems and provide real answers, rather than simply telling people it's wrong and putting punishments in place for after the fact.

Jesus hung out with the sinners and he never once called to Caesar to help him force sinners into compliance.

He said our only commandment is Love, if we follow that law all others fall into place. He doesn't say if someone isn't being loving (Gay marriage, drunk, etc) we should use the full force of government to punish them.

This is why vote libertarian, it is the only peaceful way to vote.

I follow a fairly conservative denomination. In our church abortion is not seen as a sin at all. It is not a preferred ideal because it implies promiscuity. But strictly from Bible study there is no prohibition against abortion. The Bible is very certain about soul-life beginning at birth.

'gay marriage': everyone has his/her predisposition toward some form of sin. Some are tendencies toward multiple sin behaviors. God loves all of us. Anyone who chooses to commit sin is sinning and God does not like sin.

We have no dislike for homosexuals, nor rapists, nor murderers. However to be in sin, try to justify your sin and to continue in sin is bad.

"shacking up, sex outside of marriage, having babies out of wedlock" These are all pretty much the same thing. Promiscuity outside of marriage, which is all adultery. Again God loves all of us, and wants all of us to stay out of sin. Rampant adultery destroys our society.

Being a drunkard is not a good example. God calls us to live better than that.

All Christians should be compassionate. Conservatism does not equal compassionate.

Christians are all called to resist sin against God and his purposes, that means to resist sin and to know what sin is against God ..... Sin is rooted with unbelief in the Lord and his promises, and it is rooted by pride which looks down on others, plus insecurities in life which is opposite of pride plus all sickness is sin and must be avoided through prayer and good diet, and Not condemn and judge other people in the world who do sin or cannot stop sinning ..... People stop sinning by resisting sin when it come to you and turn away and say no , plus resisting sin through prayer , as Jesus will help you resist sin by removing sin when it comes and ripping it out of you when you cannot remove it spiritually, by rebuking the sin to Jesus in Jesus name ...and Holy Spirit will remove it .... All the political parties do not represent Heaven for Jesus and His purpose but some parties do by a margin help brings life to a world which usually supports death ..... And Jesus supports life......Conservative independent parties usually do not put a president in the White House , but you can do what you need to do

Drinking until drunkenness is against God's will. But if you drink and get drunk all the time, it's not a good idea to ever drink again then (get help or go to AA meetings; lots of Christians and other religions/philosophical beliefs in AA).

I think children out of wedlock is not a great idea either. This is how most children grow up without a parent (either without a mom or a dad). It's not right, in my opinion.
