What did Christians do for the 300 years before the catholic church compiled the bible?

You really don't need faith in the bible. I see it right there on the shelf, we need faith in God and the church his son left us here on earth. We need faith in the true interpretation of the bible as handed down to the church by the holy ghost. This is the word of God. We are the church militant.
