its about time. They still think that they should investigate rather than the police.

Ideally that's what I'd prefer. Nation-states can have biases of their own and it's not unheard of for nations to arrest priests for trumped up political reasons.

Unfortunately you can't seem to trust bishops to really punish people. There was a Cardinal who wanted them all to be investigated by the Church, and if guilty, be castrated. More often though priests and bishops "protect their own" or "got wussy" and thought psychology could fix everything.

I'd prefer if we had like a group of rock-em sock-em nuns whose verdicts sent these guys to hermit-like cloisters in the wilds of Alaska or Siberia or the Atacama Desert. Unfortunately there's a kind of "collared wall" that likely prevents that and no modern state would allow a non-state actor to have that kind of power. And in the case of the US nationalism/patriotism is maybe our biggest "religion" so I don't know if even our Catholics would be entirely comfortable with "Monastic gulags." (Even I might be brainwashed enough by the culture to have a bit of discomfort)

At a time when Islam is making such world wide gains; you have to ask yourselves; "what were the Catholic's thinking when they squandered the moral high ground with attempting to cover up all this perverted abuse"?

There has never been a time when the relevance of Christianity is so desperately needed to counter the propagation of a cult-like, so-called religion like Islam yet here we are with the Vatican busy on full damage controll and heads stuck in the sand while fires are raging throughout the world.

Did it never occurr to the Pope's, et-al that one day there would be a reckoning and they'd be found wanting and marginalized by their refusal to face facts?

BruSan, Vatican can try all the damage control it wants. KC did a wonderful, national service via this action. This will be followed by more arrests of bishops, and unlike KC, I'd bet RICO will be used to insure felony convictions.

Times covered KC very well today, btw.

As if Islam has taken the moral high ground. Jeez.

They need to clean house once and for all .
