I find the scriptures interesting when it talks of God being longsuffering. We could think that an eternal being would see us as just a blip, but instead this perfect being appears to have patience beyond anything we are capable of. When I look at myself, not to mention what I can find around the world, history and what man does to one another.
It would take a supreme being composed of LOVE to have the power to tolerate us to the point that he would prepare the way so that we will one day be brought home.

Hi Paul
I read your OP just now, and it seemed a bit in line with a thought I just posted, I wanted to share it with you here:
I think women are somehow uniquely connected to God, more than man. Women know the power of relationship, but men are afraid of it. Men are terrified by closeness, honesty, intimacy. But women know it and understand the depths and power of it.
Maybe that's why the ones who preach condemnation, punishment, carnal teachings of hell and brimstone, are men. Men are better at destroying, tearing down, separating black and white, getting the job done..
But women are now-oriented, whereas men are end-oriented. Men don't care about the person, just the results. Women care more about the person than reaching the end point. They are more concerned about you-me relationship more than "being right" or finishing a project.
I think God is feminine in this respect. His Spirit and Word can move us through anything, even a song. I think that's how He moves, how He works in us.
Hope this is somehow relevant and useful to this thread..
Blessings,
brian
