Do not be deceived by those who claim that the Bible is not the word of God and that the Scriptures are not needed. Who will you believe? Those who make such claims and demonstrate their ignorance of and hostility toward the Bible, or the apostles who stated that their messages were the word of God and not the word of men?

1 Thessalonians 2:13 And for this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received from us the word of God's message, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe.

The New Testament epistles were written to and for believers so that as believers, they could mature spiritually.

Ephesians 4:11 'And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12] for the equiping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; 13] until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fulness of Christ. 14] As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; 15] but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him, who is the head, even Christ, 16] from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by that which every joint suppplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.

The New Testament epistles are for the purpose of the building up of the body of Christ, and the teaching and instruction of the believer so that the believer does not remain a child and therefore susceptable to the deceitful schemes and trickery of men.

In 1 Thess 2:13 Paul stated that his messages which were from God, whether presented orally or in writing, were the word of God.

Jesus, as the revealed Person of the Godhead, is the Word of God. The Bible is God's recorded message to man and is therefore His word - the preserved word of God.

Therefore, who will you believe? Those who in ignorance proclaim that the Bible is not the word of God, or the apostles who stated that their messages were the word of God. The very messages which have been recorded in the New Testament epistles, and which Peter gave the same weight as the rest of the Scriptures, referring to the Old Testament Scriptures (2 Peter 3:14-18).

How does the believer grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? (2 Peter 3:18) Through the Scriptures which are the word of God!!!

The Message. Not the word of men, but the word of God!!!

Look here:

2Ti 3:16 every Writing is God-breathed, and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for setting aright, for instruction that is in righteousness,
2Ti 3:17 that the man of God may be fitted--for every good work having been completed.

It is the man of God, those who are already born of the Spirit, to whom the scriptures are written for setting things aright (correction).
Wrong! The Bible is for sinners and saved alike. Faith comes by hearing the word of God. Sinners are called by the gospel.

Those that are spiritually dead (ie: the natural man) cannot hear the Gospel, until first brought to life (regeneration) by the Spirit:

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

What does the verse above mean to you?

The Gospel brings to "light" what Christ accomplished for us.

2Ti 1:10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

Only those born of the Spirit receive that light of the Gospel with power, in the Spirit and with assurance.

1Th 1:5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

I've thought about starting one just so we can get it all under one roof so to speak. What say you?
Mormonism teaches that each and every person on earth was born clean and pure, free from sin of any kind. We believe that He iss the Father of our spirits and that we are His children. We do not believe we will in any way be held accountable for Adam's and Eve's transgression, but rather that we are responsible for our own choices. We do believe that, as Adam's and Eve's posterity, we have inherited their human nature, which predisposes us to sin. In other words, it would be impossible for us to live to adulthood without sinning at some point in our lives. And because any sin we may commit estranges us from God, we are all in equal need of a Savior. Still, we cannot sin until we are old enough to be able to understand what God expects of us, and He wouldn't even think of punishing us for something someone else did or even for something we did without knowing it was wrong. So, no... we absolutely do not believe in total depravity.

Just in case you missed this post to S33 here it is again

Jesus said to the Jews that ye search the scripture for in them (the scriptures) ye think ye have eternal life ( and many today think just as the Jews did in the time of Christ) but the scriptures testify of me, and ye WILL NOT COME TO ME that ye might HAVE LIFE.

Where does Jesus tell them LIFE is? Does He tell them LIFE is found in the scriptures? NO

He tells them they must come to Him to find LIFE.

If the scriptures were the WORD of God surely LIFE would have been found within them don't ya think?
Yes, Jesus said it to the Jews. The JEWS were living under the LAW. The Old Testament was LAW. Jews had to obey the LAW.

Jesus is the GRACE. He wanted them know Him as God and believe he WAS God and to receive His grace through FAITH IN HIM.

However Jesus gave the meaning of John 1:1 the typical verse used to say the bible is the word of God. Jesus was relying soley on spirit for sustainment, not the bible, "but every word that comes from the Mouth of God"
Jesus said, IT IS WRITTEN.

He used scripture - he wrote it!

In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the WORD WAS GOD. The WORD became FLESH and dwelt among us.

Jesus came to be the spotless, without blemish sacrifice. Jews killed spotless, without blemish animals for sacrifice to God to pay for their sins. God sent His Son to be the one time spotless, without blemish sacrifice for the sins of the world. Accept Jesus and your sins will be forgiven.

The whole story is in the Bible. Read it and find out for yourselves.
