That's the way it's always been. Those who despised the spoken word and those who despise the written word are cousins.

The spoken word only didn't stop
  • Adam & Eve,
  • Cain from murdering,
  • people attempting the building of the tower of Babel,
  • the world at Noah's time,
  • Sodom and Gomorrah,
  • the ten plagues,
  • Esau decendents (the nation of Edom) refusing Israel to go through their land on their way to the promise land.
The written word and spoken word didn't stop
  • building the golden calf,
  • the destruction of the temples,
  • the Babylonian captivity,
  • the 10 Northern tribes never being heard from again,
  • people from being arrogant saying "Let his blood be on us and our children! "
  • the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans
To claim being a believer while mocking the written is just a disguise. The decieved mocks God whether it's spoken or written. History is proof.

Galatians 6:7
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
  • 1 Corinthians 6:9
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived:
  • Philippians 3:19
Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame.
  • Romans 1:18
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness,
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:12
all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

To claim to be a believer in Jesus Christ and belittle the love, grace and mercy of God is no different to what those thought the written word was life did,and although they knew the scriptures, they dd not know Him they testified of.They hated seeing anything given free by the hand of God, especially forgiveness. They hated him because He exposed what was in their hearts and showed them that they were no different to those they judged as sinners (he that is without sin, let him cast the first stone). They hated him because He would not condemn those they condemned (he's a friend of sinners). They hated Him because He said He was the word of life, and not the scriptures, in fact the bottom line is they hated all He represented.......the reality of who God really IS.

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being

Commercial timeout....

Do the ETer's on this forum Moderator cut: edit proclaim the Good News of the Gospel? Moderator cut: deleted

Rom 10:2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
Rom 10:3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

and what is this righteousness of God? Right here:

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

And what is that Gospel of Christ? Here it is:

1Co 15:1 MOREOVER, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
1Co 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1Co 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And for whom did Jesus die:

Rom 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

And, what did God accomplish in Christ:

2Co 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2Co 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

And what did God do for the the world of the ungodly? Right here:

Rom 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

To those who believe this Gospel, what God accomplished, and about those He justified:

1Th 1:5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

Those who believe have been born of the Spirit, those who do not, have not.
