We would do well to consider what the reason was that Jesus spoke like this. It is that we sometimes exalt scripture. I am not guilty of insulting it, that I, too cherish so don't bristle at my words here.

JESUS is the alpha and Omega, the door, He is THE word, not just one version of it. I see that He was saying that He is all of these, and that the scripture is not "the" word, but it points us to..."the" word. I see that He was showing us a very, gentle reprimand here, and suggesting we focus on Him, and only use the Bible as the roadmap TO Him, that it is.
That's exactly right. Many Christians mistake the Bible for Jesus. The scriptures only make a declaration of the Spirit which was in Jesus the Lamb of God. Yet Christendom has decided that, since it can't find peace anywhere else, to hold up the Bible as being God manifest on paper. And that's idolatry.

The only place where man can find God is within himself. The Daystar, the Spirit of God, must arise IN OUR HEARTS.

But many Christians have also been told to not trust their hearts. So, as a result, they are spiritually disoriented and in darkness. Christ IN YOU, the hope of glory, is the message that God kept hid from the ages past, but is now revealed unto mankind. (Most of Christendom, however, has rejected this wonderful message. And not just protestants!)

Man's heart is the sole concern of God for creation. It is man's own body that is God's temple, the place where God will manifest Himself "as the sun shines from east to west." When we know and feel Christ the Anointing of God arising in our hearts, then we are truly free. Not until then.

Blessings!

Some can see God in others too.

As opposed to relying on the flesh/logic/instinct etc, it is always advisable to consult the Creator when making important decisions. Pray, search the words. It is good advice Brian.

Fortunatly, your demand that someone is wrong doesn't negate their love for Christ and their outlook about the written word that man has tampered with over the centuries is irrelevant.

What often happens is that people simply use common sense.

CHRIST obviously has touched many peoples lives and they have chosen to focus upon something real that has happened in their lives. Something that memorizing the whole bible could not give.

If a person lived their whole life thinking how wonderful Christ is and seeking love and the pursuit of what Christ wanted for all of us and never picked up the bible, they'd be a whole lot better off than listening to most of what many religious people demand of others thriough their own man invented doctrines.

You deserve a Rep for that...but, sadly, I am not allowed to do it at this time.

Who knows how many people have been tortured, burned at the stake, etc. just because they saw things differently?

Without Christ, man is a beast.

Blessings!

Well considering a forum member who doesn't like what I believe implies that he will find glee in the horror that he thinks God will bestow upon me, I have to wonder if the same type of people weren't a part of that darkness.
