Luke 13
23 Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?” He said to them, 24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.
It seems in this case the minority is the better number.
Notice that the language is entirely confined to the present.
"Lord, are there few that be 'saved'?" The literal rendering is: "Are those being saved few?" The question relates entirely to the number then, at that time, that were entering the narrow door and accepting Christ.

Good point
Quote:
But we know that sooner or later God will have (wants if you like) all men to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4)
It is God’s “pleasure” that all mankind be saved.
And “God is operating all in accord with the counsel of His will” (Ephesians 1:11).
Change it to read “in accord with the counsel of what He wants if you like.
Because God says
"My counsel shall stand.
I will do all my pleasure
(the saving of all mankind is part of the pleasure that God wants)
Yea I have spoken it.
I will also bring it to pass.
I have purposed it.
I will also do it."
Isaiah 46:10,11
Job 23:13 “But he stands alone, and who can oppose Him?
He does whatever he pleases.
(the saving of all mankind is part of what He wants that pleases Him).
Isaiah 55:11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
(the saving of all mankind is part of all of which God desires or wants)
So we see God does all His pleasure, He does whatever He pleases, and His word accomplishes that which He desires.
His pleasure, that which He desires and pleases Him is what He wants.
His will = What He wants
What does He want?
THE SALVATION OF ALL MANKIND
Why will it happen?
Because God Himself will see to it that it gets done.

Amen.

I can answer this strangely long argument with one word: No.

Passage which speaks to the eventual restoration of all
Isaiah 25:
6 The LORD of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples on this mountain;
A banquet of aged wine, choice pieces with marrow,
And refined, aged wine.
7 And on this mountain He will swallow up the covering which is over all peoples,
Even the veil which is stretched over all nations.
8 He will swallow up death for all time,
And the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces,
And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth;
For the LORD has spoken.
9 And it will be said in that day,
“Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us.
This is the LORD for whom we have waited; (NAS)
God bless.

The scriptures refer to past ages, the present age, and ages to come. They cannot be eternal if they have a beginning and an end.
There was "a secret concealed from the aions" (ages) (past) (Eph.3:9)
There was "the preparation of the aions"(ages) (past) (Heb.11:3)

There is "the conclusion of the current aion" (age) (present) (Matt 28:20)
There will be "the coming aion" (age)(future) (Luke 18:30)
There will be "the oncoming aions" (ages)(future) (Eph.2:7)
We can lose the life of knowing God today, in this age. Colossians 1:21-23 says that we will be presented holy, blameless, beyond reproach if we continue in the faith firmly Colossians says that believers who have aionios life, that life of the ages and during the ages, have been promised immortality. Immortality is not the same as aionios life.
God bless.

It seems that we can lose things such as our 'crown of life', according to the above scriptures. The bible often indicates that we are in a race that we are to endure to the end. There's another place where it is written about suffering losses and works being burned up. There is a battle. It never goes away. Sometimes I wish the journey to the New Jerusalem was easy - but if it were, it would not be so glorious and so costly. Suddenly other scriptures are dawning on me about counting the cost, etc... I am not confusing this with the black & white of the ET theology.

Revelations 2:11
"He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death."
Colossians 1:21
"And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him, holy and blameless and beyond reproach-if indeed you continue in the faith..."
Rev. 3:21
"He who overcomes I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
1 Peter 1:2-10
Grace and peace be multiplied unto you though the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord… Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And besides this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity [For if these things be in you and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ… Wherefore the rather, brethren given diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things,ye shall never fall" (I Pet. 1:2-10).
Some will be overcomers and rule and reign with Christ- the elect. Some will not. I believe that we can lose our salvation in this life/age but this does not negate God's plan and purpose to restore all to Himself in the end. God bless.
Romans 8:
16 The Spirit himself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are children of God:
17 and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified with him.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us-ward.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creation waiteth for the revealing of the sons of God.
20 For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but by reason of him who subjected it, in hope*
21 that the creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
*hope-elpis=expectation
God bless.

Revelation 2:26-27
And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I (Jesus) give power over the nations: And he shall rule (POIMANO)** them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
*Poimano=to shepherd, to tend, guiding, guarding, folding the flock, refers to the whole office of a shepherd...
(Key Word Study Bible)
"Did you realize that God is choosing very few people, who have been faithful to the end, to inherit His reign for the purpose of becoming pastors to the entire world? Just as God chooses shepherds (pastors) in the Body of Christ, God is will be using the Kingdom through His Son to be shepherdsunder Christ over all Creation who are groaning to be "delivered into the glorious freedom of the Children of God." Remember: "the saints shall judge the world." They will do that with the purpose to break them all down, so they can receive the food of humility....
Think about why most people become Christians. There are wide varieties of reasons. The most prevalent, most popular, and most utilized reason is to escape torment. It is enough for most people to just narrowly escape God's judgment by entering the church, so they can wipe their brow, breath a sigh of relief, go to Heaven, and be happy as clams. Because of such false, watered-down doctrines like that, many people are completely unaware of the real weight and magnitude in the responsibility God gives to them that overcome...They are called to be Jesus Christ's instruments of judgment and healing as the Spirit operates though the body of Christ." S. Tipton
Isaiah 26:
9 At night my soul longs for You,
Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently;
For when the earth experiences Your judgments
The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness
The judgments of God are not to torment people for all of eternitiy or to annihilate them, but to teach them righteousness, to bring healing, to restore them to Himself. God bless.
