Don't know if this is a possibility, but many of my job interviews have been done by telephone. (This is due to me being a federal employee), but if you explain that your position requires you to be present and coordinated with another worker to take time off, this MAY be something a prospective employer is willing to consider. *shrug* ( I love phone interviews... they can't see you sweat! LOL)

And this is the clincher and why I need "Christian advice," I obviously can't lie about where I'm going, or why I would need to be off.
Will any employer be willing to interview me after hours? I doubt it. For various reasons, when I've changed jobs before, this just hasn't come up. If I say I need to be off "for personal business" that sounds extremely suspicious. So have any of you ever handled this situation. (I know some people just call in and claim to be sick. Can't do that, so as a Christian, what do you do?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Interesting that you would post this, because I've often wondered how to handle this situation.
I'm honestly with Roma on this one, with a teeny tiny exception: I would first ask the interviewer if they are willing to see you after hours, or perhaps on the weekend. If not, then heck - tell your boss you need to be away from the office for a few hours because of a personal issue affecting you. It's not a lie, it IS a personal issue affecting you, and it's none of their business what that personal issue is. What THEY infer from that is their problem. Who's to say they themselves haven't had to go on a job interview at a time when they should normally be at work?

Thanks for the input, Rob. Yeah, I wouldn't feel bad at all about saying it. It's just that I think it would arouse suspicion since I've always been so forthright before. But as I said earlier, that's probably the way it's going have to be. If she figures out I'm looking...well, I'm not happy here anyway and I doubt she would confront me no matter what she suspected.
In the past, I've always had a job that I could accomodate something. Here I don't. So I've never run up against this before.
And desiree, thanks too for your phone suggestion. I doubt that would work for this type of position. They might get a little preliminary info over the phone. Ultimately, they would want to see you though.
But yeah, I will tell anyone that calls me for an interview what my situation and see if they will accommodate me on it.

and then what....????????????
Ok, guys, I get your drift, but what happens when I don't get the first job I get interviewed for and I'm going in every week for awhile saying "I need a couple of hours personal time????"
HUh, huh, huh?? What happens then?
Ok, ok, I won't "borrow" trouble. Let's just believe God that He opens a door rather quickly!
