Do you fear the Lord? Some Christians who have not been born again fear or are scared of the judgment of the Lord, but the bible instructs that the believers should also fear the Lord, because it increases knowledge. This is repeated in many bible verses, but fearing the Lord is not same as being scared of Him, it means having respect aka "reverence" for Him.

Heb 12:28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our ’God is a consuming fire.’”

There is no reason for a believer to be scared

Romans 8: 38*For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39*nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Default Houses of Disrepute

Proverbs 1 v7: "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction."

I believe the preacher actually finished the verse above with an important angle, contrasting common sense versus stupidity. If you review parts of Proverbs 1, you find the young man creeping off to a bordello that does not have a safety certificate. Bad news!

But the last part of the scripture is possibly more informative to us in terms of New Testament teaching and instruction and prevents us (or should if we have our wits about us), from creeping off down to those houses of disrepute even though we may be believing Christians and fully saved, as follows:

1 Corinthians 6 v9-11: Houses of Disrepute... choose one and enjoy to your peril.

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you.

But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."

A cracking long scripture but full of things you shouldn't be up too if you don't despise wisdom and take instruction seriously. If there is less of you and more of Jesus in your soul and life, then you should be pretty safe. But never count those old spiritual chickens, foxy is always around!

Yes, Proverb 1:7 is one of the many places the Bible talks about fear of God.

Other mentions:

Heb 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.

Luke 12:5 But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him!

Deutronomy 10:12 “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul

Deutronomy 10:20: You shall fear the Lord your God. You shall serve him and hold fast to him, and by his name you shall swear. 21 He is your praise. He is your God, who has done for you these great and terrifying things that your eyes have seen.

Default The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge.

The BEGINNING of wisdom . . . how does a savage human being BEGIN to learn wisdom . . . through FEAR. But that is NOT how a civilized and educated human being ATTAINS wisdom.

Maybe you are too 'savage' to understand that believer's 'fear' means reverence of God.

So what is this knowledge that comes with the fear of the Lord ...... See this knowledge is believers come into a covenant relationship with the Lord , and with this relationship comes with rules...... Like when you were growing up and you parents gave you rules in your home and expected you to obey these rules or pay the consequences, like kids could be grounded or lose privledges.... Same is true here with the Lord .... So some of this knowledges of the Lord is that if we sin and do not stop and ignore the Lord , then the adversary spirit can come into your life and put you under a curse which prayers will go unheard, and even illness can come with no Resistance like before from the Lord blessing .... Or you can find that nothing seems to be right even your close friends will fight against you ,..... So you will have to repent to the Lord and turn away from the sin and pray for Jesus blood judgment to cleans you like before so curses will be gone .... See the Lord is not a evil Lord , like Jesus said` I have not come to condemn you , but to bring you life and abundant life` , which is why Jesus is called to be the Judge for Christians , as Jesus has life to give .....

LOL

There is your second one, since it takes two for a couple (do you even understand this?).

And since the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, it is no wonder that those that claim fear doesn't equal fear are ignorant.
