Well you made me break my old 40 year old album of songs and make myself look old. We used to play a lot of the Rambos' music but we had a wonderful older lady back then who made my playing sound really good. I sure she is now with God.
I've been contemplating getting a set of songs together and setting up in the local public park downtown (I play guitar and sing) which the focus on spreading the Biblical Word and Gospel message. First do you think this is a good approach? Second what type of songs do you think would be good to learn to do something like this.
One thing that's amazing about the Bible, is that there is not a lack of things to say in between songs.
This could work in a way in which people could be drawn in to receive information about the Bible, Creation Science, and the Gospel.
thoughts...
1 Corinthians 10:23 [ The Believer’s Freedom ] “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive.
Yes it could work but like with any endeavor one should consider if it is beneficial \ constructive. Normally a good measuring stick is by seeing if there are any other examples set forth in the Bible.
If one can't find an example of Jesus sending out the disciples individually getting a set of psalms to play on a lyre, timbrels, pipes, cymbals and harps in the town square in order to receive information about the Scriptures and the Gospel ,... one would have to ask why?
Was it because Jesus didn't like musicians...
Was it because not one the 72 or one of the 12 could carry a tune .....
Was it because not one follower of Jesus was sincere and wanted to do something?

Good point. If it is not effective in bringing people to Christ or edifying the body than it is a useless endeavor.
I guess that's the ultimate question.. would something like this result in souls saved and fruit bearing for the Kingdom of God? Could this be an effective way to plant the seed of the Word of God? Or could it end up doing more harm than good?
The Scriptures talk about various instuments being played among those that aren't glorifying God or his Works accompanied with being drunken with wine and so forth. I don't see why instruments can't be used if they are done in a way that is glorifying God and his Works though.

this is all very much in the thought stage.
I think the reason we do not read about such individual endeavors is not because that can't glorify God but because they are not an effective way in bringing people to Christ.

Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. If the Word is being preached and dispersed, than that can not be effective?
There are other examples of evangelical ministries reaching out to folks in a way that is not expressly laid out in Scripture. A good example is the Creation Science ministry that Kent Hovind was doing. Another good example is Dr. Walter Martin in his presentation of comparable theology.
I think there are a lot of people looking for answers. Something like this would send an invite to learn more with having the information to follow up. It wouldn't come across as "pushing" beliefs on other people but allowing the information to get out there so people can come to their own conclusion.
This is what I believe and this is why.. here's information regarding why, this is what the Bible says etc...

Won't work? why not?
I'm convinced that that is what you believe. Again, compare the examples you've given to the scriptures. I have no doubt that Kent Hovind and Dr. Walter Martin are sincere in their beliefs and very knowledgeable.
Yet how much time did Jesus spend on the subject of creation to bring people to him? ... why is that the Creator himself spent virtually 0% of his time proving himself that the world was created if that was an effective way?
How much time did Jesus spend on comparative studies on religions in order to bring people to himself? ... again, why is that?
I find people like these very informative and gifted. However factually correct they may be, I'm convinced that nowhere in the Bible is it recorded where a person came to faith as the result of scientific reasoning \ proof and the short comings of a false religion.
That is why we do not read about such approaches in the Bible. Paul just didn't pass out leaflets and leave it up to people to make their own decision.
\\\\\\\\added thought \\\\\\\\\\\\
It was not like as if as though Paul did not have the availability to do such. Though God says that a worker deserves his wage, Paul voluntarily did not extract an wage, rather he ran a tent-making business. Paul could have done just that... set up his business in the market square, got some believers to play music and do handouts. But he didn't ........ why not?

I'm just looking for perspectives and looking into an idea. I'm all for learning about methodology of how to go about evangelizing. I'm crossing a lot of things off the list but I don't have anyone suggesting anything or better alternatives.
The New Testament very clearly teaches we are not to hide our light under a basket. Music is simply a testimony of your faith to others. You may not bring someone to Christ by song lyrics and harmonies alone but music can easily provide you an opportunity you may not otherwise have to discuss Christ with someone.
Your musical talent is a skill that is derived from both genetics and hard work. However, God has obviously touched your heart to share that talent with others. I say go for it and may God bless you.
