I can think of Reuben, Saul, Esau, and Samson. Anyone know any others and if so care to do an exposition regarding the lessons we as New Testament Christians can learn from their mistakes so we do not lose our inheritance?

All those who rebelled against God and had to wander in the desert till they died lost their place. They not only lost their chance to live in the promised land and their place in God's kingdom.
Heb 4:5 And again in the passage above he says, "They shall never enter my rest."
Heb 4:6 It still remains that some will enter that rest, and those who formerly had the gospel preached to them did not go in, because of their disobedience
Heb 4:11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.
