There is no trinity. There is just the two...You- and God...All middle men are frauds...or agents...To be ONE with God is a very direct exercise- The trinity idea is a construct made to facilitate what we call a church....Christ was never part of a church- State is church and church is state.
The Lord of Hosts is important- to be ONE with God you must allow or be host to God- and let this benevolent power reside in your flesh..That is the acceptance of the Holy spirit...and the advent of the Living God- Christ was considered a heretic and even an atheist in his day...He rejected the idea of church....or any other organization we now call religion...Christianity is a STATE OF MIND...It is not a religion. The state of mind is to have the mind of Christ...and the adherence to the truth (reality)....few are brave enough to take on this state of mind...few are brave enough to be a Christ....
There are many examples why a triune God makes more sense than a unitary God, if you read the scriptures that is, The Trinity provides a coherent understanding of God’s nature, the doctrine of the Trinity provides a clear explanation and theological basis upon which one can understand the human desire for love and community. Prior to creation, if God was seen as non-relational how could it be possible for to expect any kind of relationship with him. As an inherently, non-relational being, God would be incapable of providing a basis for human community. The Trinity provides an explanation for the human pursuit of love. Because the Trinity has existed for all eternity in a community of love, the human desire for love springs from mankind’s reflection of the divine. Without a Creator who possesses plural-unity, an expression of love would be impossible. The Trinity conveys the overwhelming brilliance of a loving God Who exists in a vibrant community of love.
I believe God wishes to commune in a relationship with us, and that is achieved through his love for us demonstrated through the greatest sacrifice. All we need to do is prove ourselves worthy of it. The Trinity may not have been mentioned in the Bible in so many words, but there are many examples of a triune Godhead. Three into one won't go...I think this is one instances where it does.
if we could we wouldn't be having this conversation....
LOL, last Trinity Sunday, I complimented my priest on his sermon for helping to understand it better and he laughed and said, "If you think you understand it better, then I didn't do a very good job, because it's not meant to be comprehensible to us. It's a mystery that only God really understands."
Good luck figuring it out! Others who have attempted to do so have been burned at the stake for heresy either by the Church or the State.
It's not explicitly in the Bible (and implicitly depends on how one interprets the passage). I wonder if Evangelical/Fundamentalist Christianity will start to disclaim it and call it heresy judging by the way they read the Bible--without context, without recognition of literary devices; just literally (except for "Hoc est enim corpus meum" and "Hic est calix sanguinis mei"). Can't wait for this to be the next major movement in Evangelical/Fundamentalist Christianity as they denounce the incursion of Popery in the true faith while the Mainstream Protestants, Catholics, and Orthodox see this as one of the marks that the Evangelical/Fundamentalist and/or Megachurch movement are false churches.
I think we should wisdom of the Orthodox and call it a mystery when talking with the laity but for theologians to proceed with caution as we humans are prone to making mistakes and learning from them is the only way to derive answers (e.g. the Scientific Method).

Christianity is not a religion indeed... it is LIFE... a NEW LIFE... A NEW KIND of LIFE... A CHRIST-KIND of LIFE.
The FATHER sent HIS SEED (the SON) conceived by the HOLY SPIRIT in the womb of the woman. Was born in Bethlehem, grew up in Nazareth... Ministered in Israel - was killed in Jerusalem... but rose again and ascended on high... and sent the HOLY SPIRIT to dwell upon all who will receive the SON in their hearts and their sins cleansed by the BLOOD of the LAMB of GOD... they received a NEW BIRTH and became NEW CREATURES being transformed from glory to glory... growing constantly in the image and likeness of JESUS CHRIST in righteousness and holiness... waiting for the Return of the SON from heaven but saving souls and discipling others to follow CHRIST until the RAPTURE.
Then they are different and hence cannot be "co-equal."
(To be co-equal, none can have any attribute that the others lack, nor be lacking in any attribute that the others have).
They are co-equal because each One is Omni-Potent, Omni-Present and Omni-scient... their functions are not equal - but their inherent nature are. They are Three Persons in One Godhead.
