Wow, sparrow has a lot of fans. Good for him. I'd be careful of that second commandment though. As far as an intelligent conversation goes, sparrow responded to my thread and we've had a good conversation. I don't think my part as been unintelligent or baiting though. He obviously doesn't have to respond to this thread or my remarks but he did. Plus, how can you have a one sidedly intelligent conversation. I mean you may not agree with what I said but that doesn't mean you have to shoot the messanger. I think you may be offended by ideas that you don't agree with instead of just disagreeing with them. PS thanks for posting our intelligent conversation. Looks good!

Really good question and one I asked many times. I read somewhere, (on a website I think) that makes the most sense to me why a "Devil" exists. The Devil is an instrument of God, in order to tempt you so you can come to know good and evil. Without choice, or free will, which God had give to us, we would not know good because as long as we are human, we can not know anything, except in relation to it's opposite. Without evil, we wouldn't know good and therefore eventually choose good over evil. We wouldn't know black from white, right from left, wrong from right. Eventually, we all turn to good and God with a litle help from the Devil himself.

Default How come god does not destroy the devil?

Because the devil is our sinful animal nature and cannot be destroyed without destroying us. It is the Serpent(click link) within us that must be subdued. Our purpose in life is to overcome the evil that our sinful animal nature would have us do for selfish reasons. That is the whole point of our existence. To embody and practice agape "love of God and each other" daily and repent when we don't. That requires that we control and override our animal nature when it would have us do that which is NOT loving and produces harm or damage to others. What we do to the least of God's creatures . . . we do to God.

See When God created Adam into the image of God , every thing Adam needed was before him , so when Adam turned his back on God Words and gave the devil authority then God plan for Adam was reduced , as God could not cross the will of man who turned to the devil , so man was lost to God , by Gods rules of interaction with man ...... Then Jesus came thousands years later and died on the cross and took the authority which Adam had lost to make man a eternal Child of God which Jesus had the power to remove the devil and His authority off man and even out of the earth ..... ...But God leaves the devil on the earth as the faith to remove the devil is not enough for God , as God still has a plan for a challenge for man , as God gave man everything man need once again through Jesus Christ , and God need a challenge for the charity of the blessing of the Lord . Or man a children of God could become arrogant or pride through the blessing of God and corrupt the plan of God ...... But this challenge will be removed at the renewal at Jesus second coming for a long season for God to have a witness of His children of God without this challenge for God to see the full picture of the character of man ....

Actually the more I think about the devil being anywhere outside of us the more absurd it sounds.

The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour

The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the LORD, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it."

The scripture tells us we are formed of the earth, it also tells us the earth that is where Satan roams.

I'm with you pcamps but what does the devil being released at the end of the thousand year millennial period mean then? Our sinful nature returns?

To be honest Zero I am not sure what that means. What I do know is that when things are going good for us we are prone to not to seek him, which is an open invitation for the carnal mind to release havoc in our lives, and then we are left wondering what the hecks happened and end up blaming everyone else, God and the devil but not ourselves for the mess we have allowed in, by letting our guard down.

I mean if the devil is part of ourselves, what does it mean that satan is bound for a thousand years and then released?
