Sadly as it may seem and as harsh as it may sound its not a matter or will it matter if you could be ok with it as there will be nothing your able to do about it. Sorry about your belief of Eternal Torment but according to God's Word it is real. A place where unbelievers will go. Yes, God is a God of Love but he is also a God of Hate. Remember he hates workers (a person who commits the sin) of iniquity and he hated Esau (Jacob's brother).

Could be because the books were written by men who at times did not even themselves understand the meaning of their writings.

Your forgot that God also said he "hated" David and Israel. By faith Isaac blessed Esau concerning things to come.
