So partaking the bread and the wine in remembering Jesus is only for once a year?

Ultimately, it doesn't matter when we celebrate Christmas. In fact, there is no history of celebrating Jesus' birth from the original apostles. Yet it would be cool to link Jesus birth along one of the feast days. For one, it would seperate the commercial aspect from remembering why we celebrate Christmas in the first place. Most Christians hate when Christmas comes along because they are automatically thinking about how much the gifts will cost, traveling, and the preparation of the Christmas dinner. Most probably don't stop to think about Jesus, until they pray over their meal.

That's why it would be cool for me to relieve Christmas of that date. In other words leave the present giving, the traveling, and the preparation of a big meal as an end of the year celebration for the world. While we (Christians) remember the day Jesus was born alongside the Feast of Tabernacles. Again, it doesn't matter, I'm not making any laws concerning that. Just that it would be cool for our increased knowledge of our faith.

Christmas was Yule.

Halloween as Samhain.

May day.

All solstice celebrations.

All of them coopted pagan holidays.

But think about it. You start a religion and want to convert people.

Do you...

A) Force them like native Americans and fail miserably.

Or

B) Slowly slide your traditions into theirs so that after awhile no one remembers.

The date for Easter always changes.

Either Pat got something wrong or the OP got all the details backwards.
Do you not understand the difference between the "day" and the "date"?

It doesn't matter what christmas started out as. Whatever we do that glorifies God is okay and cherished in his eyes. I bet most of you didn't know there is a Christmas town in Heaven?

Why does anyone think that anyone cares about what the old windbag says? He doesn't speak for any Christian I know of.

Where are we commanded to celebrate the birth of Yeshua?...Are there any indications in the Letters of the Apostles that they did this?...

Well, as the gospels tell of shepherds being out in the fields with their flocks at night this should be of some help. In ancient times shepherds had to worry about wild animals attacking their flocks, which is one reason they stayed out at night with them. But they did not do this in cold seasons, so that should eliminate a chunk of the year from consideration.

My experience living at the eastern end of the Med off the coast of Syria is that nowadays, at least, December temps at night are very cold, and, thus, if the seasons were the same then December is not a very likely month.

- Days are Named.
- Dates are Numbered.
