" Man Shall Not Live By Bread Alone"..........
Your thoughts
What are some of the ways that you handle temptations or have handled them before you gave your life to Christ? according to the word of God
Chapter 4
THE TEMPTATION OF CHRIST. 4:1-11
Concerning Christ's temptation, observe, that directly after he was declared to be the Son of God, and the Saviour of the world, he was tempted; great privileges, and special tokens of Divine favour, will not secure any from being tempted. But if the Holy Spirit witness to our being adopted as children of God, that will answer all the suggestions of the evil spirit. Christ was directed to the combat. If we presume upon our own strength, and tempt the devil to tempt us, we provoke God to leave us to ourselves. Others are tempted, when drawn aside of their own lust, and enticed, Jas 1:14; but our Lord Jesus had no corrupt nature, therefore he was tempted only by the devil. In the temptation of Christ it appears that our enemy is subtle, spiteful, and very daring; but he can be resisted. It is a comfort to us that Christ suffered, being tempted; for thus it appears that our temptations, if not yielded to, are not sins, they are afflictions only. Satan aimed in all his temptations, to bring Christ to sin against God. 1. He tempted him to despair of his Father's goodness, and to distrust his Father's care concerning him. It is one of the wiles of Satan to take advantage of our outward condition; and those who are brought into straits have need to double their guard. Christ answered all the temptations of Satan with "It is written;" to set us an example, he appealed to what was written in the Scriptures. This method we must take, when at any time we are tempted to sin. Let us learn not to take any wrong courses for our supply, when our wants are ever so pressing: in some way or other the Lord will provide. 2. Satan tempted Christ to presume upon his Father's power and protection, in a point of safety. Nor are any extremes more dangerous than despair and presumption, especially in the affairs of our souls. Satan has no objection to holy places as the scene of his assaults. Let us not, in any place, be off our watch. The holy city is the place, where he does, with the greatest advantage, tempt men to pride and presumption. All high places are slippery places; advancements in the world makes a man a mark for Satan to shoot his fiery darts at. Is Satan so well versed in Scripture as to be able to quote it readily? He is so. It is possible for a man to have his head full of Scripture notions, and his mouth full of Scripture expressions, while his heart is full of bitter enmity to God and to all goodness. Satan misquoted the words. If we go out of our way, out of the way of our duty, we forfeit the promise, and put ourselves out of God's protection. This passage, Deut 8:3, made against the tempter, therefore he left out part.
—Matthew Henry Concise

Man can survive by materialism alone, but not truly live with only materialism.
There is a big difference between surviving and living (happily).

Before I gave my life to christ I was a mere child in both mind and body. Some may doubt the growth of my mind even to this day. However, be that as it may, in my pre-christian life I handled temptation by accepting it wholly and following it where it may lead. This explains why I was always in so much trouble as a child.

hey, did you ever noticed that with each temptation Satan brought to Jesus there was this one temptation Satan continued to bring along with each temptation that JESUS NEVER RESPONDED TO?

I just wanna show you how there are some temptations that just need to be ignored altogether.

noticed how each time Satan would tempt Jesus he would always leaven it with "if thou be the Son of God..."

most people never notice that this was the temptation Satan pushed over and over again. Most Christian's biggest difficulty is resisting the pride of advertising THEY ARE THE SON'S AND DAUGHTER'S of God. I say pride because often it's an unhealthy pride that leads to arrogance, prejudice, and spoil behaviors that are bent on proving self-value and are not God focused. the person who always bite the bate of "If thou be the son or daughter of God, then do this....." will always be a show-off, bragging, foolish behaving, person poisoned with the thought that they must PROVE who they are when salvation should be about the Saving Grace of our God.

just wanted to share that tid-bit.

I believe that it is great to be called Christians because we being changed into His image and we are to be the sons and daughters of God.

Quote:
18But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
2 Cor. 3:18

Not in a prideful way but with the realization of His purpose for us as the body of Christ. God bless.

Thanks for resurrecting this topic, I needed the uplift today,
I'm struggling with a lot of people lately( fam inclusive). that are proud use the entitlement Christian" while having hearts as cold as stone.
when you can't offer bread or water, or a roof in the cold winter.. what part of the title do you think should apply to these sort of persons?
This is ridiculous, No cross... No crown
If they can't open their fat hearts to feed a person a loaf of bread, or a drink of water
I feel for them..
Thanks... a little venting here...
But I'm tired of people playing with God (Jesus) and their children.
Hey everybody..
just dropping in again... but Thank God I'll get better not bitter in these times
God Bless You
Miss You all
