Is there a basic form of christianity and that most if not all churches tack on their own laws and teachings and take basic understanding of scripture to extreme levels to justify their own brand. Is is pride in their own form of being holy that they cling to?

All though you missed that the living God Lord Jesus Christ does not give any power of grace to those who are disobedient and or pride in their religion....As God resist the proud ...... Where Churches who turn to Jesus for their lead in the Spirit will base their Church of the authorship from Jesus and the Word that Jesus brought ..... And law of the church are for the structure of the Church and are not for any faith to Jesus , As believer cannot please God but By faith from God Words

There may be a few churches that do that but I believe most try and follow the basic teachings from scripture.

I think it is part of human nature to try and differentiate ourselves. Kind of like the numerous fast food chains who claim to have the best hamburger.

However, depending on how you interpret scriptures and employ your own reasoning, some churches have laws and teachings that may be more accurate or meaningful to you.

The basic form of Christianity is to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and to follow His two commandments 1.) to love God and 2.) to love your fellow humans.

it is the law of first exposure. you go to a church with the basic understanding of Love God, Love people. then you begin to see how your church does certain things, you begin to do them, and then you become one of those who points fingers at everyone else. it is what you were first exposed to. it is difficult to break that first exposure thing. but then you get older, and realize that Love God, Love people really works. so you stop pointing fingers and just learn to love. however, some will die pointing finers.
there sure are some well meaning churches out there. just gotta look around.

There are certain irreducible truths inherent in and essential to Christianity. The most 'basic' of these is that I am a helpless sinner, separated from a Holy God by my sin... and the 'wages of sin are death.' BUT, GOD came into the world in the flesh of Jesus Christ, to reveal His love and provide a way for mankind to be reconciled with Himself by faith. All who trust and believe on Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, will not perish, but, will enter into an eternal relationship and life with a loving God. When a new believer is reborn in God's indwelling Holy Spirit, they receive the 'mind of God, which enables them to understand the things of God' ... and thus, grow and mature Spiritually (to be transformed by the renewing of their minds).

It really isn't all that complicated. (As J. Vernon McGee once said, "God keeps the cookies on the bottom shelf so the 'kids' can get to them.") Beyond that, there are a ton of 'doctrinal interpretations' ... along with considerable false doctrine, that tend to add a 'human spin' to the simple Gospel truth.

I would like to address just the ^ above ^ part of the question with the 'basic form' or 'basis' of Jesus 'new commandment' mentioned at John 13 vs 34 , 35 which is the basic form of Christianity to love others as he loved us.

I was going to say the same darn thing and you beat me to it: LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF...that's the ONLY thing about Christianity one needs to know.
