Once a great man of God told me that sacred scriptures from all religions were created in such a clever way that they had 2 meanings, the obvious message was intended to inspire the average man, while the other was meant to help the serious spiritual seeker on his/her quest for God, since that day I've followed his advice, but I would love to know the opinions of my fellow forum users and brothers.
My church teaches, and I agree with it's teachings on this, that the bible was written by man, translated by man, and is interpreted by man. Interpretation is a living and on-going process. We also expect a person to study the bible and make an intellectual decision as to whether or not the scripture has meaning for today's world. Then, it can become a wonderful guide for life.

If the bible told you to hate your mother than you would do that without questioning?
the bible doesnt say that though..it says to honor thy father and thy mother..
and of course we are supposed to question things..if you look at Biblical questions..you will find the answer to what you are asking or searching for in the Bible..
why would you be confused?
