The prayer Jesus Christ spoke to the Father in the garden of Gethsemane. It shows his complete and absolute devotion to the Father and to submitting to His will. What an example for us.

I assume these prayers that were mentioned are catholic except for the prayer in the garden. I would love to hear them. I'm baptist and have never heard of them.

I think my favorite one is the one my youngest granddaughter said at the table not to long ago. She is five, Dear Lord thank you for the food , help my mommie to do better and please help pa pa get some fat off his belly.amen
( he is on a strict diet)

I almost cried and laughed at the same time. she was very serious, her mother is on crack, and my husband is diabetic. Oh that we could pray with the pure heart of a child.

I love the ones I taught my children when they were little. Why? because we were worshiping together and they were so cute and serious as they said them. I can still see my baby saying: Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep, if I should cry before the morn, I pray the Lord to hold and keep me warm..

Yes, I changed the lines, I just could not say if I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take to my three year old!

I have such fond memories of kneeling with my boys by their beds as they prayed their nightly prayers.

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

I wear this one on my wrist. It is engraved on a Mobius band (just the first verse). It's sort of permanant. To remove it, I would have to break it.

Well its not really a prayer but I have always loved the Irish Blessing May the Road Rise to Meet You. I think it is so beautiful and I love to think God is holding me in the palm of His hand.

And while favorite may not be the right word, one prayer that has followed me my whole life, was at my 16 year old cousin's funeral when her parents asked us to all pray for the young man who hit her car while he was driving drunk. They prayed we would all forgive him. It was one of the most loving moments I have ever seen from 2 human beings. I will carry that with me all my days.
