Do you think much about Heaven?
We've had some threads about it lately--( Would you go? What will we look like in Heaven etc.) I'm currently reading the book Hoosier recommended about it- Heaven by Randy Alcorn....which seems to be a good read and biblically based so far.
I never thought much about Heaven until our son died six years ago. I thought about it in terms of accepting Christ, but not in terms of what Heaven would actually be like. In fact, I still don't think it about the subject probably a lot, but some now. And of course, this book is making me think tangibly about it a whole lot more.
Do you think much about Heaven, what it will be like etc? Do you have any thoughts or desires for it?

I don't think about it all that much in details (what it will look like, what we will look like, etc). But I do think about how wonderful it will be to have no more pain or crying or stress. How wonderful it will be to actually be in the physical presence of God. It will be truly awesome and for that, I can't wait. However, I don't feel my time here is anywhere near done, so I will plug away at life and do what the Lord has for me before going home.

I have thought about it sometimes. I don't really dwell on it much, but it is nice to think about what will be on the other side for us! Sometimes this life becomes so rocky and turbulent...at times, the thought of Heaven is so appealing.
My mother in law told me about a book called "90 Minutes in Heaven" by Don Piper. I read a small excerpt from it. It's very fascinating. I think, as Christians, we're not really supposed to put much weight on Near Death Experiences, but this guy sure seems very sincere in what happened to him. You can google it a read a small excerpt from the book.
While Heaven seems appealing and I look forward to one day being there with God and without pain and tears, I in no way want to hurry it up any.

I have also read some bits and pieces from that book, and I liked it too. I'm with you--I think some of the NDE's are suspect, but this one I felt was the real McCoy! It was very interesting.

Hey I'd gladly go today if it was the Lord's will. I'm ready to be in His presence. Remember what Paul said, "To live is Christ, to die is gain". Yes we may have a lot to do here on this earth, but Heaven is what we should long for. Think about how you long to be home with your family during Christmas or during a special birthday or reunion. You just HAVE to be there and don't want to miss it at all. That, my dear friends is what Heaven should be like for us. Dying is not a bad thing. It just means we'll be in the presence of the Lord and all our loved ones who've gone before us.
In my finite mind I can say I'd miss my family terribly. But in the infiniteness of God, I'd know that He had a plan for me and the family and ultimately He takes care of us. We put all our trust in Him. He is our Rock.

I've read some fascinating things about heaven, and I long to experience the blessings that Dojilynn mentioned, yet I rarely think about it. My mind just can't comprehend how absolutely wonderful and different it will be. I'm sure it's far beyond my imagine, so I really don't even try.
Funny, though, the Millennial Kingdom is the thing I think about more. I don't actually expect to be part of the MK, but I think it will be a reality in the very near future. While heaven is far and above beyond my experience, the earth is something I understand. I can imagine Jesus reigning on the earth; I can imagine how things would be different. I think the people who inherit the Millennial Kingdom will be shocked at some the changes Jesus will institute; however, I imagine they will be very fortunate to dwell in that time period.

Don Piper's book is a fascinating read.

I've had so many people I'm close with die from a very young age...so I have thought about it a lot. The visions have changed from when I was 4 until I was an adult...but it's always quite peaceful and happy. I don't think about it daily usually when I think about a person that has passed on it brings up the thoughts...oh and this forum also brings it up.

My mom got really turned on to the book "Heaven is So Real" by Choo Thomas a Korean married to an American. It's more of the Charismatic movement. Anyway, it's translated into a ton of languages. An interesting read, although, I personally have a lot of concerns about books that seem fantastic (like fantasy) and not biblically base. (my mom vehemently disagrees with me of course).

Have you guys seen the movie, The Five People You Meet in Heaven? Starring Jon Voight? It is really amazing and totally thought provoking.
Ya know, When I think of Heaven, I think of a huge water fountain set in like a town square only its not a town, but there are brick pavers all around and there is light, bright light....and I think of the Throne where God and Jesus sit, and it calms me.
Then I think of my dad, and I can just see a big rig barreling around in heaven!
when I think of what Heaven will be like, I think of purity and peacefulness and happiness, moreso than I see pictures in my mind....hmm..

I didn't know that they had made The Five People You Meet in Heaven into a movie. I read the book. I thought that it paled in comparison to Tuesdays with Morrie though. That is one of my all time favorite books. I also did not care for the movie when they came out with it. It just did not do the book justice. Of course, my husband who had not read the book thought the movie was fine.
When I think of Heaven it is more of a feeling than a visual picture. I just think of peace. I can't even imagine what it will be like. But I know that my Father has promised it to me.
