After all, if you "choose God," it's because you love Him, right? Not because He's getting you out of eternal hell.

If you share the Gospel with others, is it because of Love, or to try to convince them to avoid hell??

Hell has no purpose. God doesn't need to "prove anything" to anyone. He is Right, and always has been. Hell doesn't "prove" He's right, nor does it "prove" that man is wrong.

Jude reads thus:

Quote:
And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
v. 23

Can people be pulled out of the fire? If they are on Earth, how can they be pulled out of fire?

Discuss.

Blessings,
brian

First of all, if the Bible's hell was eternal then no one could get out of an everlasting hell or permanent hell.
When Jesus died he was buried meaning considered as being in hell [Hebrew word: sheol ].
God resurrected the dead buried Jesus out of the temporary biblical hell according to Acts 2 vs 31,32; 13 vs 30,37.
So, the dead can not avoid the Bible's hell because the Bible's hell is just mankind's stone-cold common grave where the dead sleep in death until resurrected to either heaven, or back to life on earth during Jesus 1000-year reign over earth.
[References: Psalms 6 v 5; 13 v 3; 115 v 17; 146 v 4; Ecclesiastes 9 v 5; Daniel 12 vs 2,13; John 11 vs 11-14 ]

The Bible's hell does prove that 'the soul that sins dies' [Ezekiel 18 vs 4,20 ] thus a dead soul or person needs a burial.

Good question ' if on Earth, how pulled out of fire '. That is because in Scripture fire is Not always literal but figurative in usage. The English KJV word 'hellfire' is from the word ' Gehenna'. Gehenna was just a garbage pit where things were destroyed not kept burning forever. So Gehenna or hellfire is a fitting term for destruction and Not forever flames.
And as the symbolic lake of fire is: second death. Jesus destroys Satan [Hebrews 2 v 14 B] and Satan ends up in 'second death' [ Rev. 21 v 8 ] so, second death is also a fitting term for: destruction. -Psalm 92 v 7; Jude verse 12 B.

Verse 21 of Jude talks about God's 'mercy'. So the action of pulling them out of the fire [ of destruction ] would be helping others to be saved by having reverential fear of displeasing God, or fear of disobeying God, because God has mercy on us if we obey Him. The humble living 'sheep' alive on Earth of Matthew [ 25 vs 31,32,37 ] are declared righteous because of God's mercy. Thus spared from destruction, they are spared alive [ Rev. 7 v 14 ] right into the start of Jesus' coming 1000-year reign over Earth.

What good does believing in hell do?
What good does it do to believe that you will one day get old? After all, you will get old whether or not you want to admit it. What good does it to to believe you will one day die? You can accept it, or deny, but you will die either way. Facts of life are facts of life, and they won't disappear by denial.

another hell thread?
some folks like the thought of hell. everyone that does not accept jesus goes to hell they say. hitler will be there, so will the jews he killed ( even though it says all israel will be saved, paul must have meant the person he knew who was named israel). there will be lots of grandmas in hell just burning ( but not really burning). lots of pregnant women (since God does not do abortion, the babies must burn also).
basically, only thomas and paul had to see Jesus in order to believe. Everyone else will be screwed. it is silly.
the way paul was saved was because he could not deny the power, and since paul stated that his conversion was a pattern, it will happen again. many will have to touch and see Jesus in order to believe. some are more blesses because we dont have to see or touch. But we have faith. (faith is a gift, from GOD. If you dont have it, it is God's fault).

Well, Jesus word is the truth. So we as Christians have an obligation to speak the whole truth. If you read the Gospels, you'll find that Jesus often mentions judgment day, punishment and hell. So it must be important. It isn't for us to reason why and shape the message to the way we think it should be but to teach the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Lk 9:26 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

Ac 2:40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”

What the Bible says, and what we "think" it means, can be two very different things. Jesus had the Spirit "without measure." This fact alone means that we cannot understand his words just by reading the Bible. It's like another language.

Blessings,
brian
