News, Christian Human Rights Lawyer Reports Persecution in China.
HONG KONG (ANS) -- As the 2008 Beijing Olympics approaches, Chinese Christians are facing increased levels of persecution as authorities seek to keep dissidents away from international media, according to a Christian attorney in Beijing.
The Baptist Standard reported that Christian human rights lawyer Li Heping says he was kidnaped and tortured for nearly six hours on Sept. 29, and two other Beijing Christian activists have been held under house arrest since Oct. 1.

Since China has more human rights abuses than probably any other country in the world, this is really not surprising.

At least in 2005, this was not true. Iran, North Korea, Burma, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Sudan have the worst human rights records in the world.... (broken link)

And we often confuse the principles of "democracy and the free world" with good ole Christian values.

The pot calling the kettle black?
Uh, don't Americans kidnap and torture people also?
I mean how can a patriotic American or a Christian American accuse the Chinese government of torturing Christians or unlawful imprisonment of people while their American government does the exact same thing?

Yeah, but we are supposed to be doing it to protect our Christian Nation from the attacks of terrorists. That will make it OK in God's sight....Right?
You see, there is one Christian tenet that our government doesn't believe in....well, actually two. The first, is "Do unto others.' and the second is "Turn the other cheek."

Actually, IMHO it is impossible for any secular government to follow after these "rules". That's why Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world."
Regarding the OP, yes, I have read numerous accounts of persecuted Christians in modern-day China. One church leader did say, tho, that he wouldn't wish for the luxury and tolerance of America, because of the laxness and casualness that would undoubtedly result... if your way isn't popular, you gotta decide what you really believe...

To compare the Chinese government to the U.S. government is ridiculous.
