[SIZE=3][SIZE=3]Can you get too much of a good thing? Is it possible? Can you get too much God? It doesn't
seem possible does it, yet every year Christian's burn-out and shut down. Yes, God wants us to surround ourselves and submerse ourselves with Him. He wants our faith, trust, hope,
fellowship, prayer, devotion and obedience. I can assure you what He doesn’t want is for us to be so intensely involved in and with Him that we burn out and leave. God- 24/7? How about 23/7 or 22/7?

I strongly urge you to carve out a couple of hours a week for yourself and do something you
really enjoy; something that has absolutely nothing to do with God! Well there it is - I said it outloud. Get a rope and hang me! Get a hobby like astronomy or stamp or coin collecting;
reading or writing or macrame; woodworking, crafting or leather-craft. Any of these can be
very rewarding and restful. You need to relax and not have to think about trying to be perfect for awhile. Find something you've always wanted to do but never had the time.
Yeah, go ahead and setup that train station in your basement! Go ahead and paint or
sew.
Bring some balance into your life. Balance may help you avoid Christian burn-out and be a
better Christian and a better husband, wife or parent over all. See if your children might enjoy your new hobby with you. You’ve already passed on Christian values to them, now pass on rest and peace. You may find your family unit growing stronger and closer together and your relationship to God reaching higher and higher levels.

Balance out, relax and refresh- God gave you life to enjoy, not be a slave to "religion".

God bless

Balance is certainly an important concept - for all humans, not just Christians.

Isn't idolatry considered anything we put on our mind/heart in place of God?

I think even our leisure time painting, playing ball, etc can still be done in the joy of the Lord. I do think God wants ALL of out heart, soul, and mind but I do not believe it all involves pain and suffering.

So surfing, fishing, etc .. It's fine. God's creation can be enjoyed. Just give Him thanks and enjoy it with Him.
