Scripture refers to the antichrist as the "King of the North" (Dan. 11:5-45) Syria is immediately north of Israel. They are currently in the news everyday! But if you get a flat map of the world an draw a line due north, it runs right through... Moscow!
Isn't it such a co-incidence that Russian and Syria are buddy/buddy here in these latter days?
10 years ago I'da said "no way!" to the antichrist hailing from Syria, but now...
Keep your eyes on the world news brothers and sisters.
Other names of the antichrist include:
1. the Assyrian (Isa. 10:20-27/ 30:18-33/ 31:4-32; 20; Mic. 5:3-15)
2. the King of Babylon (Isa. 14:4)
3. the spoiler (Isa. 16:4)
4. the extortioner (Isa. 16:4)
5. Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal (Ezek. 38:2,3)
6. the little horn (Dan. 7:8, 24; 8:9, 23)
7. king of fierce countenance (Dan. 8:23)
8. the prince that shall come (Dan. 9:26-27)
9. the man of sin (2 Thess. 2:1-12)
10. the son of perdition (2 Th. 2:1-12)
11. the wicked (Isa. 11:4)
12 that wicked (2 Th. 2:1-12)
13. the beast (Dan. 7:11; Rev. 13)
One thing we can be sure of is Jesus said we would clearly see the signs of the end times and the makings of the anti-christ when he comes. In recent years many have been called the anti-Christ: Oprah, Obama, Eckhart Tolle, Jay Z, nearly every middle east leader and so on. It has certainly caught the attention of believers around the world and they are not afraid to speak out on who they believe it is.
Usually when prophets name a country as the antichrist then the devil puts a curse on the country and the people , and this curse would be a antichrist curse , which would be out of the will of God to curse any country and any people , as Jesus loves all the people from these nations and would love to convert them all to His blessing , So believer are called to bless all nations and not call on curses on people or nations , which the devil will act on , and only Jesus blood blessing can redeem ........... Seen the spirit of antichrist once through the spirit , and he looks like a goat with a goat-tee beard and two small horns , and would say to believers of Christ to confuse ` you are a good friend to me ` ..See this goat antichrist is a fallen angel and can hold curses of people , and he rules in rejecting the commands of Jesus Christ , and reasoning out faith in Jesus promises , and rejecting the Holy Spirit and His Works of Christ.......
seriously .... do you think scriptures were written in order to be applicable for 2013 headlines?
The Bible is the most fascinating book every written! It's teachings are timeless, it's knowledge the wisdom of God.
Even if one doubts the authorship of the Bible, it's truths are shown in prophecy. Check out the other major books of other religions. How many prophecies will you find in them? Very few. Why? Because only God can look into the future and see events which have not happened. One false prophecy in the Quran or other books would expose them to be fraudulent.
There are a staggering 6,408 prophecies in the Holy Bible!!! Approximately 3,268 are fulfilled and another 3,140 are either unfulfilled or ARE CURRENTLY BEING fulfilled. Many of these concern the latter days, which, judging by the world news, we are currently in. Bible prophecy tells us that the nations of the world will align together against the nation of Israel. If you follow the news, that is exactly what is happening RIGHT NOW. Dozens of prophecies predicted 3,000/4,000 years ago are shaping up today.
So brother, yes, scripture was written to be applied for 2013 headlines.

Most fascinating?... So, you have read and studied it in its totality in order to make that statement?...
God does not look into the future to see how things will turn out...
Jack and Rexella Van Impe?...Or did you actually count all those yourself?...
That's one Protestant thing that Catholics never got to hear about. The Antichrist. For us it was always just Satan, though we didn't hear too much about him either.
Or the Rapture. Never heard about that crap till I was in college.
