Every Christian knows the story of the woman caught in the very act of adultery. She is brought before Jesus and asked what would He do in light of the fact that the law of Moses says she is to be stoned to death. Jesus, (Jn. 8:6) "...stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground, as though He heard them not."
Has there ever been a Christian who hasn't wondered what Jesus wrote?
I think He was doing a sudoku.
Let's have some fun with this one. What do you think He wrote/was doing?
Moderator cut: inappropriate have got me what shall I say to them ?.
"When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say,for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time( no time to whip out your bible) what you should say."
Jesus wrote nothing. Pay attention to the text notes. This text was not part of John's Gospel and was later added. So we can assume the event actually never happened.

It's really hard to say that it was not part of the original and missed out in the copy lines for which we have the oldest extant examples, but remained in the copy lines for which we have only newer examples. It could have been in another gospel or oral tradition and added later. To say that it didn't happen is kind of jumping the gun.
I think he was writing out the pertinent Levitical text, thinking "Boy do these guys have it wrong.....again."
Only Love can judge and in love there is no judgment.
We can only admit that He alone is Savior--not us. We need to grow up and learn what love is. Love is perfected in forgiveness and once we learn this He will come and make His abode with us. If we love Him then we will love each other without judgment but in teaching to not harm others. Those who damn themselves are those who enjoy punishing or abusing others. You have to give to receive--the greatest is love
The names of the wicked are written in the earth because they reject the Good News of mercy/salvation and remain fallen in nature and do not enjoy the things that come from Heaven as those whose names are written in Heaven in the Book of Life.
JER 17:13 "O Lord, the hope of Israel, all that forsake You shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living waters."
Compare that with this:
LK 10:20 " rejoice, because your names are written in heaven."

Gary, I do not believe anyone rejects good news, anymore than someone dying of thirst rejects water. One thing I will say which most of us miss in this story, is Jesus stooped down and his finger was obviously pointed to the dust instead of pointing it at the one accused. Stooping down getting closer to the earth( this body of death we live in).
for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. Psalm 103:14
large thin and crispy, extra sauce, extra cheese; no anchovies!!!
I thought this was.
