Scamp, You are so correct. I am sure the JWs think that they have his resurrection day all figured out, but they don't. Just like they don't have the date for Armaggedon set out either but throughout their history have always come up with one date after another, but I don't want this off topic and neither does anyone else.

Well, I would like to reiterate that that post was the work of another. He is a scholar, author, prophet and good friend who took the time to point me in the direction towards the relationship with God that I had been searching for. Like so many, I was driven by the wind and tossed. He challenged me until I stripped away all of my notions and stood steadfast in the Lord.
Seems no one can give a valid answer to your what GIFT you will give to CHRIST in the midst of the hoopla you plan ? The one's mentioned are not DEC. 25th special gifts........but everyday gifts to Christ if we are HIS.
Seems when you get to the nitty gritty of it, people do not know what they are celebrating or why or CARE.......that's the sad part to me. NO TRUTH SEEKERS. NO ONE CARES.........just give me CHRISTMAS.............and all it's OVER INDULGENCE....and leave me alone, I don't want to know the truth is really about all I've gotten here.

Because I built my new home for CHRISTMAS........every plug in ect. was designed for CHRISTMAS........the wall colors to enhance RED and a manger scene in every room, including the bathrooms. I had 3 trees not one and decorations galore. A collection of SANTAS.
But when the SPIRIT OF GOD CAME and made me start searching for the TRUTH about all that I was doing and year after year, brought more truth and more conviction, I finally had to decide if I wanted what FELT GOOD, or the TRUTH of CHRIST that was beign revealed to me.
I'm sorry so many are soooooooooo nonglalant about such an IMPORTANT SUBJECT. It's HUGE TO CHRIST. OVER EATING, OVER SPENDING, OVER SHOPPING, OVER DRINKING, SUICIDES, over indulgence, over strife, over stress, over doing, OVER PAGAN STUFF in the Name of JESUS. And you don't think CHRIST CARES..........then you need to read this whole thread and your bible and I think you will find out differently. He's not a GOD who is LUKEWARM on what HE SAYS do and NOT DO.
I'm really disappointed there are no real SEEKERS here but only defenders of what They THINK AND FEEL..........not truth based on facts.
AND SO THE LUKEWARM CHURCH moves on deceiving and being deceived, denial and no real desire to seek GOD with their whole heart. (because you will surely FIND HIM) Not grounded in HIS WORD, but just making it up as they go and what FEELS GOOD.....DO IT. That's RELIGION, not a SPIRIT FILLED LIFE WITH CHRIST.

There is a case to made that Halloween originated in Christian roots, and look what it has become now.
Whatever Christmas used to be, or however it originated, in my lifetime it is the day that we celebrate Christ's birth. The important thing is that whatever you choose to do, you do it as unto the Lord.

That's pretty harsh generalizations your making there about people you don't even know, and based on what I bolded in your post, then I'm pretty confident you were in fact convicted by the Holy Spirit that you had idolized the holiday.
Not everyone is where you were.
I think it's great that you gave it up if that's what the Lord led you to, but I don't think it's fair to basically call us heathens just because we exercise some self-control on this matter and keep Christ at the center.
Your questions have been answered, you just didn't like the answer you got.
What God would care about is that you love him. And if people believe that they are loving God by celebrating Christmas, then it should be so.
Then why only show that you love God on a Christmas day?
Shouldn't all days be like Christmas? In my opinion singling out a day to especially show God that you love Him diminishes all the other days in which you do not 'exclusively' celebrate that fact.
Tricky, No it doesn't. I used to be so anti-Christian, but I now live in the Bible belt, and I have seen and been with so many Christians that live their faith. Here they actually help the needy and they don't judge whether a person is really needy or not. They have impressed me deeply, but I do not join any religion for other reasons. And when they celebrate Christmas they are doing it as an extra special time of the year.

Nowadays Christmas is more about receiving gifts than anything else. Or at least that is what the media and the corporations would like you to believe. Why only buy your loved ones gifts on Christmas?
Would Jesus agree with us only buying each other gifts to honour him?
We should honour Jesus 24/7 by doing more what he has done when he was alive and not just give each other 'gifts' on Christmas. Giving gifts is easy, while trying to live as Jesus is not.
