Heterosexual Christians should be having married sex. God's Word is very, very clear about that. Anything outside of that is sin.

In terms of married sex, Song of Solomon describes it eloquently. God created married sex for both procreation, but for enjoyment as well .

The Old Testament like the New is not perfect.

Only our God is perfect.

The Old Testament is filled with imperfect men and women who made mistakes.
Are you in the believe that Love can be void of lust in a relationship?

Nateswift, it is a beautiful Book that describes in earthly manner the loving relationship forshadowed as Christ and His Church.

Maybe you can be more specific as to what you see in it is addressing the OP.

Lol trettep, it is pure and simple a celebration of human sexuality. Why do you need to imagine that it is anything else?

Actually, if you read the Torah laws on the subject and how they defined sin back then, understand the original Greek words behind words like fornication and understand how the cultures were set up back then and compare them to ours...it's actual sinfulness becomes about as "clear" as mud..not that mud can't be clear enough to see through sometimes..but that's mostly off topic. I very much agree with the rest of what you said.

Lust is an English word that virtually always has a negative connotation...and it doesn't actually exist in the Greek and Hebrew bible. The word behind it is "Covet" which is only wrong in certain situations based on what you are coveting. It even says Jesus "coveted" the last supper, does that mean he sinned? Of course not.

Jesus would have almost certainly understood coveting as being linked to the 10th commandment, which is about coveting property (which included wives back then). When Jesus talks about coveting in Matt 5, the context he is speaking of is Adultery, which is a very specific sin in the Torah worthy of death involving sleeping with another mans wife (which is a property/lineage violation). The Greek word for women (gyne) is the exact same word as Wife and is only distinguished by the context or saying something like "that guy's "gyne" (Wife). The Tyndale English bible (one of the first) actually translates "Women" as "Wife" Matt 5:28. Why did it change? Hard to say, but traditions are hard to break and the Church has a history of over reaching on what is defined as sin because it often means more guilt which means more control.

Anyways, the point is I have a feeling that you are misunderstanding the scope of "lust/covet." However, I DO think Negative coveting can happen even in a love relationship, but only when it involves obsession beyond one's love for God. Sex for non-procreative purposes, in my opinion is well within the bounds positive coveting in the right situations.

"Open" does not mean that you are actually trying to have a baby. Just that you are not putting any restrictions on conception (artificial birth control.) You should always be "open" to accepting the creation of a new life. Even if you are physically unable to conceive.
Seriously? This is nothing more than a man-made church rule. Over-population has been a curse for many countries. No one should have more children than they are able to provide for.

Nateswift, did you also believe that when Jesus said that when Jesus told the disciple to now take a sword that He meant a literal sword? You have to remember that all you reading in the Old Testament is earthly things describing Spiritual things. For example, did you know the Holy Place is the only entry way to the Most Holy Place in the Temple? Why? - because is signifies that the only way to the Father is through the Son.
