You really ought to read what Jesus said about them. He referred to them as historical people.

Historical People?

A story or statement, generally circulated without confirmation or certainty as to facts, led to the myth of fallen angels.
The real messengers of truth were real people; old men of high repute, who had fallen into the grasp of desiring young women.
Thus, the truth has been changed into the lie of a false doctrine called Satan and his fallen angels, which lead men astray.

For everything in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, comes not from the Father; but from the world.

Exactly! This sounds like Jesus is referencing a literal event:

The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here.

But, you guys keep using the Bible to prove the Bible. The circular pattern is perfect.

It always amazes me that other wise intelligent and aware individuals appear to put those traits aside when they discuss the Bible. I doubt if any of them would accept a circular reference in any other area of life, but seem perfectly willing to accept those circular references when discussing the Bible.

It never ceases to amaze me.

I'm thinking you are having difficulty understanding the point. Nobody is "proving the Bible" with the Bible. But we are saying that you can know how to UNDERSTAND one part of it by looking at another part of it.

If you don't believe the Bible....fine...don't believe it. But don't suggest that one part should be taken allegory when another part of the Bible CLEARLY indicates that it isn't. I'm guessing you don't do that with other forms of literature, do you?

If you have a history book on George Washington, do you decide to read chapter 3 as an allegory, but the rest of it as fact simply because you don't want to believe the events of chapter 3 took place? If chapter 14 is believed to be historical---and it refers to the events of chapter 3 as historical....why would you believe chapter 3 to be allegory?

No one is trying to prove the Bible! We're debating whether certain events are literal or not, and what Scripture has to say about it.

So the Bible is not infallible?

Who said it wasn't? Yes, we believe it to be infallible.
