We need to understand the various forms of baptisms, which is a ceremony to offer someone solely to the care of God or start a contract with God. In the old testament days of Abraham, it was the circumcision. When the law was given in the time of Moses it was the offering of a turtle and a dove in the temple. In the days of John the Baptist it was baptism unto repentance, preparing folks to know the saviour. In the time of Jesus Christ, it was Baptism in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. After Christ, it became, as promised for all, the baptism of the Holy Spirit. You cannot claim to be born again or be saved if you do not have all the latter three baptisms - repentance -(confessing your sins), believe in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (Read about the Ethiopian Eunoch's baptism in Acts) and baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Not all can pray for you to receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy spirit can come on you a) on its own accord and b) by the prayer of one who has been baptised of the Holy Spirit.

Most Christians have just two baptisms (repentance and the name of Jesus) but lack the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This has led to confusion, wrong doctrine, and falsehood peddled in different denominations. They do not have the Holy Spirit. Only a select few have this Spirit and know him. (Read John John 14: 15-21 to understand more about the Holy Spirit)

I should note that this is all part of the cessationist doctrine, which Satan instigated and
the big churches went along with gradually (for various reasons) after the apostles died off.

This doctrine said the following ceased:
-- the baptism with the Holy Spirit
-- the 9 spiritual power gifts (1 Cor 12)
-- the 5-fold ministry (Eph 4:11)
