A spirit-led reading of the Bible will give the necessary information, but there is so much extraneous stuff that it can be difficult to mine. The Bible does point to the Spirit and the fruit of the Spirit, with the basic of concern for the well-being of others as basis.
Is The Bible all that is needed for one's spritual authority and guidance or not?
The Bible which is the Word of God tells us everything that God chose to communicate to us and is the standard for absolute truth. The Bible is the word of truth (2 Tim. 2:15). This does not deny that the Holy Spirit is the true Mentor. Nor does it deny that God also provided the spiritual gift of pastor/teacher for the edification of the church (Eph. 4:11-16).
Until Christ returns, the Bible is God's completed message to man. The spiritual truths of the Bible are to be transferred to the soul of the believer under the filling of the Holy Spirit who will not teach the believer anything which is contrary to what the Bible teaches, and under the teaching authority of a prepared pastor/teacher. The believer can understand some things apart from being under a prepared pastor-teacher, but there are many things which are difficult to understand and which as Peter said in 2 Peter 3:16 '...the untaught and unstable distort...'
Therefore, the believer in Jesus Christ has for his spiritual growth, the Bible, the Holy Spirit, and the pastor/teacher. The believer must add to that his own positive volition. A willingness to learn.
Yes. Other things may be beneficial, such as church history or tradition, but if all you have is the Bible, you can learn all you need.
The bible is a summary of compilation of the oral Tradition. The original message of Christ was spread by word of mouth. Jesus wrote nothing. Before the the Tradition was oral. The Canon of the NT which was put together by the CC WAS put together in the 4th century. It would be another 1100 years before the printing press was invented in 1450. The Bible was not available to all Christians. They relied on the church, the creed, the men of apostolic succession, and the Our Father to spread the word.
A bible based only Christian during early Christianity would go nowhere.
