If these parents were denied their fundamental rights to do what's best for their child, just think about about what's going to happen to you and your kids. Some of you atheist really need to use your brains once in awhile. Anything that effects religious people in this country regarding parental rights and government interference, affects you as well. It's only a matter of time.

Government simply seeks to prevent parents from abusing their children by using religious reasons to avoid addressing medical problems with medically valid approaches. Medicine is medicine and religion is religion . . . and they address different issues.

Ah yes, and we love and trust our gov to do what's right by us...right? NOT..If the child hadn't got sick and went in for help, do you think the gov would even know, let alone care about this child? hardly..I see many neglected and abused children every day, and the gov really doesn't give two $h**ts about them...

This is evasion and distraction. There is corruption and evil everywhere . . . and no human systems are perfect. But medical treatments are our best defense against illness and disease. Parents do NOT have the right to prevent their children from receiving the benefits and life-saving properties of medical treatment because of their irrational religious beliefs, period. Government has the right to step in and protect the child from such irrationality and unreasoning credulity.

To refure my "in general" comment, you need to come up with a percentage, not incidents.

not evasion and distraction MysticPhD..truth...reality..I wonder how many Christian people would stand behind this couple (had they known them before) and then would turn around and judge them, calling their Christianity (belief), "irrational religious beliefs"..because they don't agree with their choices.
You're very wrong when you say "medical treatments are our best defense against illness and disease"..prevention, with good nutrition and clean water are our best defenses... No money to be made that way...I could probably understand forcing a family to give a child antibiotics to save it's life..cause we all know it will...for sure, without a doubt. But I feel it's very disrespectful to the family and child to force this child to go through a hellish treatment that could not only greatly reduce the childs quality of life, but take that life as well...it's a gamble, and not a good one at that.

The parents should have the right to do what they feel is best for their child...they should be able to say no to this if they want....coming soon
