A God that is evil cannot be the true God.

For example parents that are evil to their children are not considered good parents. In fact, they may lose custody.

Using the OT to prove the OT is circular logic.

However, I agree with one thing. The God of the OT is extremely violent and cruel.

Does that really show that Satan hates man? Is that your interpretation - that the wrath is because Satan hates man?

That is the common conclusion of non-believers. True Christians see the reasons behind God's judgements.

Priscilla:

I think the NT is amazing. However, the OT is severely lacking and in fact there was a movement in early Christianity to take the OT out of the Bible.

In 144, Marcion became one of the first declared heresiarchs for his deviations from the orthodox viewpoints of the apostolic church. The suppression of the Marcionist form of Christianity is thus viewed[9] as a catalyst for the development of the New Testament canon, the establishment of a centralised church law, and the structuring of the Church.

Why rationalize the atrocities of the OT? This was the view of primitive men trying to glorify the history of the Jews.

It appears that today is a reflection of yesterday without much improvement:

How exactly does it happen that normal human beings, all endowed with that of a conscience, having an awareness of individual responsibility for their judgments and choices, manage to justify in their own eyes the most inhuman atrocities; and acts of self-righteousness, without running into intolerable cognitive dissonance within their own supreme values? Yet, they can still call themselves, true Christians?

If God is ALL good then God cannot create evil.
One purpose for God to create evil is to test his creation (angels and humans).
Otherwise, why would He give all of them free will?

Satan used his free will to choose to sin against God (and he fell).
Satan tested God's angels (and they fell).
Satan also tested God's first humans (and they fell).

BTW, there were a few righteous people in the OT, and in the NT just before Jesus arrived!
But, not nearly enough to satisfy the Lord.
Hence, God's last salvation plan, which has worked the best ...

God's New Covenant

The BAC has been given the Holy Spirit to reside inside of him/her.
This makes it possible for the BAC to overcome temptation, etc.
and to satisfy our Most Holy God enough to accept him/her into heaven.
God's elect co-operate with the Holy Spirit in being sanctified unto holiness!

A God that tests his children is petty and insecure.

Do you have children?

Would you set up your children for failure just to teach them something? I believe that is cruel.

Man has free will because the creation of MAN is perfect. A creation with no free will is not perfect.

Evil is the byproduct of MAN's free will. God did not create that evil.

God is GOOD.
