Another Side of Catholicism: Insights from a Former Catholic Nun: Mary Ann Collins: 9780595319558: Amazon.com: Books

Can anyone prove that there is an actual woman named Mary Ann Collins?

Have anyone seen Mary Ann Collins?

Any live interviews?

Any photos?

Thank You

The (listed) author's name has got that generic, 50s-60s Catholic, given-plus-Confirmation-name-thing happening.

Obviously a very common name.

However, I suspect this is a fictitious character (ex Nun) and the name is used as a pseudonym by a male writer, probably a minister.

I hope I am wrong.

I hope someone can prove me wrong.

I'm a writer. I, and many of my confreres (and the female equivalent) have used a pseudonym or three along the way. It doesn't necessarily dilute the message. But I'll grant that in some circumstances, donning the cloak of anonymity makes it easier to...um...elasticize a fact into a new, nearly credible form: Witness corporate and governmental and religious (there's a difference?) PR.

I don't mind pseudonyms, but in this case the author calls herself an ex-Nun and that supposedly gives more credibility to the anti-catholic propaganda. So in a sense it is quite dishonest and actually devilish.

It is not the issue of the pseudonym, but the intend to misled others and cause harm.

I guess bart's self-imposed exile is over. Welcome back, bart. Maybe something will sink in this time 'round.
