I sometimes wonder about that because there are many people I know who are Christians who are loved by many here on Earth and they get a lot of love and admiration from other people of all religions.

I think if being liked is more important in one's life than God. It is impossible to control the thoughts (love, hate, etc.) of others so I don't think this would be a problem.

I treat everyone the same regardless of who they are or who they think they are.

If you live your life as a true Christian you would be well liked. Its those that are sudo-christians that have the issues.

EX 3:21 "And I will give this people [Jews] favor in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when you go, ye shall not go empty."There are times when God will give you favor but then again there are those times when you shall be hated.PROV 16:7 "When a man's ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies [those who hated you] to be at peace with him." Sometimes it means just tolerance not overt love but at least peace.
God can and often changes the tide.

Just wondering why you might think it's NOT okay for a Christian to be a well-liked person?

At the very least a true Christian should be "likeable" - in other words, pleasant, compassionate, empathetic, not a phony

Heal the sick, feed the hungry, guide the blind - it's an attractive pursuit, it's dedication, and it's the right thing to do. Some may admire, some won't. Do it for G-d, that's who we owe obedience. And if we are liked, so be it. Christ in us.

Someone once told me that if you're a well liked person on Earth you're not serving Jesus properly, I do notice some people who are well liked are likely to not have much need for Jesus than those who aren't well liked and desired here on Earth because they're often content with the love and respect they get from their fellow man, I do agree a true Christian should be likable

1TIM 3:7 "Moreover he [a Bishop] must have a good report of them which are without [the church]; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil."

One should not be condemning to those who will not hear and he needs to be respectful, honest, friendly and then he will have a good report.
