We must have faith in Christ and a mind to be obedient to Him to be able to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, which Peter said in Acts 5:32 that God gives to those who OBEY Him. Without the Spirit of the Holy Ghost richly dwelling within our soul, guiding and directing us in our thoughts, words and deeds will we be able to obey our Savior. We cannot exert ourselves into being obedient without that Holy Spirit, which we must cherish and protect all the days of our life. Michael Youseff of the Leading the Way radio series says that if we die without the Holy Spirit within that we would be like the 5 foolish virgins who had no oil in thier lamps and were refused admission to the Great Wedding Feast. So, as Alistair Begg of the Truth for Life radio says, we must have perseverance to be saved. Jesus said in Matt. 10:[22] And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
The Once Saved, Always saved doctrine does not pass the requirements of our Savior. Those who say that once you are saved, there is nothing you can do that will cause you to lose your salvation are turning the Word of God into a lie.

The fruit of being Christ's sheep is obeying/following Him. You will know them by their fruits (Matt 7). Fruit/Spirit-led obedience will occur through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit in the believer.. Because they are a "good tree" born again by the Spirit of God. A corrupt tree (natural sinful fallen Man) can't bring forth good fruit. It is God's Works as He works in the believer conforming them into the image of JESUS Christ.

Obedience is not what one must do to be saved because obedience includes the Law and it is clear in the Scripture that the Law can not bring any of us to Salvation but is there to show us God's way ultimately seeing how we fall short.

Trusting in JESUS Christ coming to Him IS what one must do to be Saved.

We must be careful not to attempt and approach God with the Law. The Pharisee's did this, but many never knew Jesus Christ.. and thus they stumbled at that stumbling stone.

Faith in Jesus Christ and not the Law is what brings a person to Salvation. The "good news" is that God's Messiah Jesus DID fulfill the Holy Requirements of the Law and through His Sacrifice and resurrection US wicked sinners Can be Justified before a Holy God if we receive Him in His perfect righteousness through Faith.

If one is clothed with the righteousness which is of Faith in Jesus they will not be cast out of the wedding feast. If one is clothed in their own righteousness which is of the Law they will be cast out. The Lord will inspect the guest and see they have not met the righteous requirement of the Law. MANY are stumbling at that stumbling stone.

Romans 9:30-33

What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.

But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

If we commit a willful premeditated sin AFTER we have received the gift of the Holy Ghost (which peter says in acts 5:32 that God gives as a gift to those who OBEY Him) then Heb. 10:26 says "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
We must have a commitment to obey our Savior in His words to be able to receive the Holy Spirit. If we let that Spirit direct our works from that day forward, then it is the Spirit working in and through us that is doing the works and we have nothing of which we can boast. Jesus said in Luke 17:[10] So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
